Clutch issue?

I finally got passed the break in period. The weird thing is I went for a few quick runs and I could smell something burning. Also went I drive hard and park the car I smell something burning. I have a feeling its the clutch. I adjusted it closer to the floor so it grabs quciker. Is that why its burning the clutch? Maybe the clutch is not disengaging? How do I adjust it to factory or close to factory spec? The last thing I want to do is replace another clutch. Thanks!

Are you sure it's the clutch? A burning clutch has a VERY distinct smell and it doesn't smell like normal things "burning."

I assume you have a cable tranny, right? That's how you are adjusting the clutch? Anyway, there is no real "factory spec" setting. Just set it to what you're comfortable with.

On a hydro tranny if you are adjusting the master cylinder rod to far in your pressure plate fingers can rub on the back side of the disk.

Also, if there is not enough travel in the pedal the pressure plate diaphram will not pull the disc far enough off of the flywheel and now you have a great polishing wheel.

I would double check the adjustments you made.
