Default changing vavle seals, stuck on tbelt removal

do i need to align cam gears and crank pulley to TDC at the same time?

if i align the crank to the first notch which as far as i know the first piston the cams are not aligned, the up arrows slightly turned to the side. If looking from passenger side they turned left about 1tooth.

but if i align crank to the middle of three notches, the cams are perfectly aligned ?!?!

>>not my car

i did not take a belt off yet, im trying to get TDC aligned before i take it off

The cam gears should have little index marks that should align with each other, at the same time as that single white mark over to the right of the 3 marks. Those 3 marks are timing marks, you need to line up that single mark to the right which is TDC.

The red mark is 16* BTDC and is what idle should be at.

Once you remove all acc. belts and remove crank pulley you will see the TDC mark on the TB pulley underneath. That will line up TDC with the cams.

Cams have UP marks on the and little marks on the gears to level with the top of the head.

remove valve cover and top cover for the timing belt. move the crank pulley to line up with the white mark thats TDC. make sure the cam gears have the words "UP" pointing up. and the two little hash marks on the inner part of the cam gear line up like so --. good luck.

Just to say it one more time, if the lower cover pointer is pointing to the lonely white mark, (which it isn't in the pic), the cams should have their up marks pointing up and a straight edge should be able to line up the side marks on the middle of the cam gears straight across.

You don't have to pull the lower cover to line up the crank (like sauseja said), the lower cover pointer is clearly visible in the pic, and this pointer is used to align the crank, and the lonely white mark to the right is supposed to be directly under it when you are setting the cam timing.

The three marks that the pointer is pointing to now (18*, 16*, 14*) in your pic are used for ignition timing when the car is running they have nothing to do with setting the timing belt and cams in proper alignment.
