Changing shift knobs!!
Do any of you guys change your shift knobs w/ the seasons? I know I am going to put an old civic one i found lying around the garage. It is just way to unbearable to drive or shift and hate it because you feel like your hand is going to be unseperated from the shift knob https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

Re: Changing shift knobs!! (dc4drewH)
my skunk2 is impractical for any season- burning hot in the summer and freezing in the winter, but i love the way it feels and looks too much to change it.

Re: Changing shift knobs!! (dFreezy)
do like I did and get a polyurethane shift knob...feels good no matter what the season! it's metal on the inside, so it's strong...and polyurethane for the grip https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

Re: Changing shift knobs!! (Slo Car)

Re: Changing shift knobs!! (1whitedc2)

Re: Changing shift knobs!! (Skittles)
i love my skunk2 knob. i usually cover it in the summer when i park so it doesn't get burning hot when i get back to the car. and yes the counterweight makes a world of a difference in feel, feels like its stock on the skunk2 shifter, i had the oem knob on my shifter at first and it was like i was fighting the shifter. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

does the sk2 shifter have problems such as knocking against the cat or vibration/rattle issues?
|
Re: Changing shift knobs!! (dc4drewH)
When my car was running with an SK2 knob I used a glove on my right hand when it was too hot in the summer or too cold in the winter.

ghetto ^^^^ j/p man...I used to keep a small shop rag in my car for those hot summer days in Texas when I had my metal shift knob |
Re: Changing shift knobs!! (Slo Car)
i wear a hate most of the time in the summer; so i cover my itr knob with that when it's hot. and i have an old gsr knob i use in the winter... but i normally wear gloves when i drive in the winter anyways so it doesnt matter....
shit i dont even drive my gsr in the winter.. scratch that. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif |

no problems but i have stock exhaust for now. vibration is the normal vibrations from the car, rattling is the ring on my shift boot hitting my shifter which isn't very often. so all in all i'd say its actually like stock just with a shorter throw. hth |

my last shifter setup was skunk shifter and knob w/ ES shift bushings and all i can say about it is https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif . but it sucked in the winter because i was basically forced to drive w/ gloves

when i drove my 190DT with a manual and aluminum AMG knob, it burned my hand like crazy. my mom knitted it a little cover...like a mini-beanie. it'll go on my next car too.
