car not starting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
Well last night we had snow and I wake up this morning and go outside to start my car it just wouldnt start. When i turn the key it cranks but just doesnt hit the final stage of starting. I have had this problem before last winter but then if i had just kept tryin to start it would finally start after like 30 mins or so but today it wouldnt start. Today I kept cranking it and I think the battery went low too. The car only does this when I havent start it for like a day and when its cold outside. In the spring and summer it was fine. What do you guys think the problem could be? I leaning towards spark plugs or distrubtor cap..thanks in advance https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif

It sounds like your battery might be dead or your alternator is not holding the charge. I would try replacing the battery first.

Re: car not starting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 (CivicSiR94)
check starter (make sure bolts haven't backed out), then battery, cap/rotor, fuel filter.
report back your findings. |

Re: (GSRT37)
check the contact point on the cap and rotor, check the condition of the wires, pull a spark plug and check its condition. check fuel pressure. if it runs ok when its warm, then you might just need a tune up. how old are the parts in the car?
(wires, plus, cap, rotor, fuel filter) |

Re: (CivicSiR94)
I have the same problem when it gets cold. I replaced the ignitor and that fix my problem.

where does the ignitor go? |
its the coil or the ignitor (ICM) i had mine go out because a spark plug wire came off while driving DO NOT PULL A PLUG OUT AND TRY AND MAKE IT ARC ! this WILL burn the coil and the ignitor up if they arnt already because they have to work harder to bridge the gap
coil was 75 and the ignitor is 175 from autozone |
Re: (CivicSiR94)
The ignitor is in the Distrubtor. It's what the coil is connected to. The ignitior is a small box appox. 1'x1'x.5'.

Re: car not starting !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1 (CivicSiR94)
check your tps sensor... i know on jeeps they get a carbon build up on them and they basically get "jammed" thinking the engines warm... u say when it does start it idles wierd until it warms up... thats the same way w/ jeeps.... pull out the throttle body and clean it out....
