Ok so my friend who has an integra ls has trouble starting his car. It cranks but does not start, but there is a whole story to it.

Just the other day he took out his spark plug wires to do something, i forget what though, but he forgets to put back one of the spark plug wires. He started it fine with no problem and it ran for awhile until it died so now we are trying to figure out what could be the problem. We plugged the spark plug wire back and when we try to crank it, it just doest start. We keep hearing a clickling noise and that is it.

We are afraid we may have messed up a cylinder because he was basically running on 3 and he may have messed up the 4th. Any thoughts?

Running on 3 cylinders is fine, he shouldn't have wrecked anything. Pull out one of the spark plugs and push it into the wire as it would be in your motor, place it on top of your valve cover and have your friend crank it. If you see the spark plug spark, then it's not spark related.

Sounds like the coil pack in the distributor went bad

you can ruin a cyl. if you just ran 3 cyl. for awhile, but for how long? due to hydrolocking the cyl . fuel just keeps on acumulating in cyl and locks the cyl.
but it should be fine if it cranks.

start with the basics and check to see if youre getting spark and be sure in correct firing order. and check fuel pressure. more then likely its the coil

ahh i see ok. well we actually got to put the car back together because we took the head off to see if a cylinder had been ruined. Is there anything i should check for while everything is still apart? If not we ill put everything back together and check for the basics like you said

hopefully you took the head off cold right? because you can have warped the head if you take it off warm. just redo valve clearance again and use a new headgasket and inspected all components and if can use some ARP head studs but you should be good to go.

You should invest in a KV probe to check if youre getting spark. you place it inline with the plug and wire and it lights up spark is present.

Ok bad info from me. I've driven around for a whole day on 3 cylinders but it was because my injector clip broke so i guess i wouldn't have been flooding the 4th cylinder.

oops to clarify when i say ran i meant it turned on for about 30 seconds and then it never started up again.

also yes we did take it apart when the car was cold
