Default can the honda crank pulley tool be used to loosen/tighten the flywheel bolts ?

I was reading through the helms and it says to use the honda ring gear holder, but I do not want to spend 90+ for a tool I will rarely use. I do have the honda crank pulley tool and when I think of it, it seems like it would hold the flywheel from moving/spinning as long as the breaker bar is touching the ground. Will this work or is there any other techniques ?
