Do you build up pressure when you pump the pedal? How's your brake fluid lookin?

flush the system then try and bleed w/ a mighty vac or vacula as you tighten the bleeder screw and go from there. even if thats not it new brake fluid is better than the fluid thats in ther now.

If you put your foot on the pedal to hold the car and it slowly sinks to the floor you need a new master cylynder, no amout of bleeding is going to fix it.

rebuilt nissin master cylinder with core replacement is about 40 bucks from your local auto parts store. not hard to replace, the toughest part is having to bleed the lines. about 3 hrs for a amateur like me.

just make sure when you buy a master cylinder it comes w/ a new reservoir. they forgot to give me one when i fixed mine and the old one wouldn't clamp right

as far as your problem goes, it sounds like its the master cylinder. I went through it a couple of months ago w/ my teg, its not that bad.

I had those symptoms when I had my Jetta/Vento and replaced the master cylinder to fix the problem. It is most likey your master cylinder that is causing the problem.

try bleeding it first. maybe it has air in the system.

With a bad MC, it'll be hard at first, then smoothly sink to the floor.

when the car is cold it hardly does it, when the car warms up as i apply pressure the pedal slowly sinks to floor, if i have to stop from a high speed i'll end up having to take my foot off the pedal half way through in order to build pressure again and keep braking. i would try bleeding it but then again the car has 120k miles and i'm sure the master cyl is worn out. so they dont have any quick fixes, like some type of fluid???? thanks

In that case bleeding repeatedly, with lots of fluid, might work. But it's a long shot.

Most likely the leak is from the edges of the piston seal being damaged by that dirt, so when you get rid of the dirt it still leaks.
