Big decision to make.. USDM or JDM GSR??
im about to go to HMO next week to buy a longblock for my blown 95 integra GSR. now.. i need advise. is the JDM GSR motor any noticable different then the USDM? if smogging is not an issue, would the JDM be the way to go? or is it like the same as USDM

the jdm has a little bit higher compression and 10 more hp, im sure its not gonna be that noticable, but youll still be able to tell. If you go with the jdm im pretty sure youre going to have to get some usdm parts, so the usdm may be a little bit easier.
to my knowledge youll need a couple usdm sensors that the jdm is missing as well as the usdm ecu, but get someone elses opinions becasue i have no idea because I live in texas and we dont have all that crap here.

If you're gonna build it then dont bother getting the JDM one, no point in spending more money if all your going to do is swap out the pistons anyway.

since im gonna rebuild it, y not use the JDM longblock for that extra torque and hp?? same price anyways.. oppinions?? experience?? any1

Only difference is the higher compression. Or so I am led to believe... If you are going to build it. IE: Swap out pistons and what not.. Then you're changing your compression anyways... so it's pointless.

even if i change pistons or not.. JDM and USDM longblocks cost the same. so why not get the better version? i dont think im gonna mess with the pistons, just gonna get stage 1 camshafts and valve springs

That's the whole thing! There is no difference between the JDM and the USDM GS-R longblocks other than the compression ratio and maybe a SLIGHTLY more aggressive cam profile.
So like everyone is saying, if your going to rebuild it, then buy the USDM longblock and save yourself a little bit of money!

You obviously already have your mind made up. You arent even listening to peoples suggestions. Do what you feel. Go with your jdm block.

Re: (veggiemaster)
u guy's input is helping me though. i need more input so i can finnaly make up my mind. both longblocks are the same price, would the jdm longblock fit into the usdm transmission without any problems?

Considering the harsh *** rules of the state ref's and smog laws you may want to stay usdm to avoid hassles with smog. I would go with the usdm route, but thats just me. You really aint getting much more with the jdm swap anywayz good luck

I'd also search honda-tech for a used GS-R motor. You can usually find them here for cheaper than Hmotors can sell them.
But the smog thing plays a big factor as well. Living in CA you are going to run into smog issues big time. In that case it'd be easier to go USDM.

Since your only going to build the head, get the b18c (Jdm) block. More compression.
I have never done it before so i have no experience to really help you but from a hp standpoint, you will have a little more power with jdm. Then mill head .015 and use thin headgasket. Probably at 11:1 compression then. But dont forget..if you mill ur head, you cant put material back on. Dont mill to much or bad things will happen.

Re: (VTECcnIT)
me and my boy at work swapped a JDM gsr into a 98 DC2 last week at work ( acura) was surprised the jnukyard brought us that motor , we had to swap the crank sensor and intake manifold cuz the car was obd2 and the JDM being obd1 but i drove it after it was finshed felt quicker then a USDM with just a intake and test pipe which sound like *** on a stock muffler
