ball joint removal

ok i cant get my damn ball joint out on my car, i have tried all of the tricks like jacking up the rotor and i even got a pitman puller(useless). nothing not even pounding it worked. the other side came off very easily i am so frustrated the fukin thing wont come off. does any one know any little tricks or have some advice???? it would help a lot.

-i also read all of the past threads and those didnt really help either. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/mad.gif

Are you trying too get the ball joint out or just loose from the lca??? Why did the pitman tool not work??? Worked for me https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif . If your trying to remove the ball joint get a big ass press.

wedge a bar between the knuckle and lca. then jump on top of the rotor.

The pitmans the one that is like a C shape with a bolt in the middle right? I havent had good luck with those. Just get one of those big fork things and a good heavy one handed mallet....got all six of my front ball joint undone with that sucker. Just splats grease everywhere.

Re: ball joint removal (gumbybum)

if your replacing the ball joint, then the best way is to get a pickle fork and hammer that, that will work, but it ruions the boot https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/acura1.gif

Make sure the boot is not torn, otherwise you will probably need to repalce the balljoints.

i wedged a cro-bar inbetween the nuckle and jumped on the rotor. (used the joint to work against itself). it worked great....thanx to whoever told me that, it was wonderful https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/embeer.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/embeer.gif

if your stock boots are fine then i'd say the hell with putting the es ones on, i never could get mine to fit properly http://images.honda-tech.com/set1//smile/emcrook.gif

btw every time i have used the "pickle fork" method of geting the bll joint apart, i have never had a problem with the boots ripping https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...es/emsmile.gif

Re: ball joint removal (gumbybum)

If your ball joints and boots are still good, don't even bother with the ES boots. Those things do not create a proper seal and will allow the grease to come out and dirt to come in. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emthdown.gif

Re: ball joint removal (2k1_ITR_0736)

if you need to take the axles out, i hiope you took the nut off before you messed witha ll that suspension stuff. if you did, you can tap the rotor end witha hammer, and the one you pull the hub off the axles take a beefy screwdriver, and just give the inner cv's a yank. they will go,, make sure you drain the fluid out of your ttranny, or you will have a leaky leaky. not alot of fun, you only have to do this if you pull pass side out. driver side, the intermediate shaft hold the fluid in.
