B20 swap...IM and wiring questions.
i will be getting a B20 from hmo and am putting it in my DA. Ive searched around and most people use the LS ecu.
Do i use the LS wiring harness?
Ls intake manifold?
what about the alternator???? i use my current alternator?

Re: (ComptonsF1NEST)
I've recently done the b20(b) swap in my DA and there are a few minor things that should be done before u get the motor in the car.
One was the driver side mount (the part that is bolted to the motor not the actual motor mount) is too small. I had to swap it out from the one from my ls motor. You have to take the crank pulley off in order to take the timing cover off to swap it.
Also the IM you either need a ls one or get a blox or skunk2 Intake manifold.
The dipstick on the b20 for some reason doesn't clear the hood 100% and when u close it, it gets smashed a bit.
Also change the crank pulley from the b20 to the ls. If I remember correctly if u are using the original powersteering system you will need it. I know there were a few more annoying things that I wish I knew I had to do before I had dropped the motor in.

I like my b20. I chose it because I could get the motor for less than 1000 and use the LS tranny. Buying a b16 with a short geared tranny would be quite a bit more.
And I like the low-end power, i like it as a daily driven motor.

Re: (civic duty)
You basically use only the b20 long block, none of its manifolds or its dizzy
you have to use your old LS intake manifold, throttle body, alternator, dizzy, wiring, everything
all the plugs should plug up the same, the only one on the block that wont have a plug would the the crank position sensor if the block is obd2 but dont worry because it is in your distributor
also make sure you use the B20 valve cover because that is where the little hole for the PCV valve is and you have to put one in there and run a hose from that to the large nipple on the intake manifold
have fun with your b20 swap

you should be able to use the same crank pulley, if you cant then you need a chain vise grip and rest it against something very sturdy, get a 19mm socket and a socket wrench and stick a Long cheater bar on it and kick the **** out of it and hope that it will crack loose
WD40 helps quite a bit when breaking the crank pulley bolt loose

Does it afffect the timing belt when u remove this?</TD></TR></TABLE>
it shouldnt if your timing belt is properly tight, just check after you put the new pully on to make sure

o ok. 1 more question.
Is the b20b worth getting over the b20z?
i never can find b20z's anywhere but b20b;s are everywhere...
Are there b20b's with high compression?
