b18b Timing belt issues

Default b18b Timing belt issues

Ive changed this belt numerous times and keep getting slack in between the cams. Im using 5mm punch on intake and exhaust cams everything is lined up oem belt and oem water pump anyone have any tricks cause this make no sense at all.

are you doing the belt tightening procedure right?

-find tdc on cams and crank
-loosen the tensioner
-rotate engine clockwise 3 teeth to put tension on tensioner
-tighten tensioner
-rotate engine counter clockwise 2 or 3 full turns and make sure the timing marks on cams and tdc mark on crank are in the right spots

haven't even tried to tension it yet, i go crank,tensioner,pump,exh then intake by the time i get the intake side its way to loose like over and inch of deflection and when i turn the motor ever so slightly the cam gears dont line up.
I checked the part numbers on the belt and water pump and they are the same. even tried the old belt and still cant get the right procedure down.

Well that's what the tensioner is for lol you do know how to loop the belt correct ? the tensioner is #2

how should the tensioner be left putting the belt on is it just hand tight correct.

Torqued to 40ftlbs or just over. hand tight noway

Have you tried tightening down the tensioner while pulled down in the fully loose position?
It helps a lot if you're doing this job by yourself.

Tighten it while pulled down, start the belt around crank pulley -> tensioner -> water pump
Then start it on the exhaust pulley over to the intake while keeping everything halfway on til they slip over.

Easiest way for me to do is rotate counter clockwise slowly till the slack on the belt is loose at the water pump, loosen tensioner then tighten to 40ft lbs. then u should have good tension, after that rotate crank counter clockwise 4-5 times to make sure u still in time with ur timing marks

i have the same issue, the timing belt never adjust, is too loose and doesn't have the correct tension, i have used OEM timing belt including the water pump, tried again using aftermarket adjustable sprockets but the issue still persist, someone told me about which water pump model i have used, but i dont know if this car has 2 or more water pump models (size) my car is an integra 2000 with b18b1 engine
