don't rev it higher than you have to and you'll be ok.

It really all depends on the basemap your running..

How much boost r u running right now?

What is your timing set at?

Do you have a wideband?

How far of a drive is it?

You most def do not want it to lean out on a far drive.

basemaps are generally really rich, so no worries about running lean. the idea of a basemap is to get you to your tuner without blowing up your engine, not to extract the max hp out of your engine, so max boost and timing don't come into play. you're not supposed to redline your engine on a basemap.

Right.. Well the OP hasn't really gave us much info on his setup.

When i hear basemap.. I'm thinking ebay chip.. hopefully it is a decent map.

a basemap is generally referred to what the guy who puts the chip/socket in burns in for you, not to an ebay chip. an ebay chip is not the same thing as putting in a chip/socket for tuning. i drove for a few hundred miles with my basemap while troubleshooting various problems without any problems, even with numerous trips to the redline

just stay below the where the turbo spools. under 3,000rpm it should still be in vacuum.
SO in those part of the maps, it should be safe.
So even if you have a basmap, before boost kicks in, it should still be safe. Just drive speed limit and it should be safe.
