Re: any tips for replacing front oil seal? (GSR44)
heat and power tools, you'll need these to remmove the crank pulley bolt. since you are replacing the t-belt, what about eh water pump, tensioner, and cam seal. that is of course if these need replacing.
the oil pump seal/front oil seal is kinda tricky. you have to pry it out, it is hard. when prying it out, be careful not to scratch the housing of the seal. use a small flat head screwdriver and pry from the middle of the seal.
when installing the new one, get a deep socket that fits snugly into the seal housing. align the seal, put teh socket behind it, and give it a few light taps. once you know it has seatted correctly, tap it more.
one tip would be to measure the length from teh seal to the outer edge of the housing on the old seal before you remove it, in this way you can compare this measurement to the new seal. then you know if it is in all the way.
good luck

when its completley in it wpnt go any farther. and the outer edge will be flush with the block. Be sure to grease the inside of the seal before installing or else its leak time.

not that much, small taps until it's flush and align with the block.
also I wouldn't use a screwdriver to get the old seal out(too much of a chance on gouging the surface of the block). go to sears they sell the oil seal puller. cost about $5-$8.
