alternator taking a dump, would check engine light come on?
my alternator is taking a dump, and now my check engine light is on. Would the dying alternator be the cause?

i don't think the check engine light would go on. Just the Battery Light. When my alternator went back on my obd1 gsr motor thats what it did.

well get this, when my alternator crapped out right before Christmas, my battery light would be on ONLY when the car was turned off, and when running the oil pressure light would flash continually. New alternator fixed that right up. But now my ABS doesn't work, and I think it's the alternator (rebuilt) that could be causing it.
But if the CEL is on, just jump the diagnostic connector and see what code is stored in the ECU.

Well, my battery light would flicker on/off. Then when I would rev it higher that 500 rmp(idle) the light would go out, but my lights would stay really dim. Then right before I parked it, until I replace the alternator, the cel came on.
