all motor or jrsc?
 

Ive been debating over this two set up and done some research. My main concern is smog because i live in cali and everyday driving reliability.

(1) skunk 2 stg 1 cams, im, cam gears, i/h/e, flywheel and clutch combo, vafc and dyno tuning. about 170-180 whp

(2) jrsc 6 psi, i/h/e, flywheel and clutch combo and call it a day. about 180+whp

any opinions? money wont be an issue since ill be deploying next month and i would be taking home atleast 5 grand. The rest of the money are going to suspension, 98 frontend conversion and a decent paint job.

damn i am in the same boat. I think i am leaning towards all motor because the up keep will be easy for me. I can deal with I/H/C/E and even cams but a SC scares me.

If you take care of your car the jrsc will pass smog. Its carb legal and makes decent power.

According to JR their SC will make over 200 to the wheels. I don't know how much truth is in that. But in JR defense my buddy was making just under 200whp in his hatch and he barely beat me in my JRSC integra which was close to 500lbs heavier when we ran. So I'm sure my teg is over 200. Obviously don't know because my car has never been on a dyno. But I would imagine with the weight difference I was putting a good amount more out than he was. It doesn't matter now what my car was making because it's al being redone and should make a lot more. Opperative word SHOULD LOL.

My friend just got a JRSC put in his 99 SI and only got about 43 bhp on 6psi out of it. On top of that his pulley snapped in less than two weeks, the shop that installed the SC is a respectable shop, and the SI didn't have any engine problems prior to the SC addittion, but still came out with only 181 bhp.

What's worse is it has no power in high end. Another guy with a 15.7 SI with just bolt ons ran the supercharged one on the freeway and pulled by one car. SC is good for short drags and runs but can swallow your money, and it is does kick in hard on low end.

Cams would be better option if tuned imo.

why would you go through all the work of installing the jrsc and never tune?

You cannot make judgements like that from two people racing.

Since the guy actually has the cash I would suggest the JRSC, a BTC, different FMU, MAP controller, and other misc thing to get the jrsc working right. Should knock you over 200whp.

You cant feel the high end power because the TQ curve is flat. I am surprised he got 181whp out of an untuned set-up, should have been lower https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif

The JRSC is carb legal but once you get into the hondata and the different ECUs you are asking for trouble

you answered ur own question...u said they will both make about 180hp...all motor doesnt have a powerband as big as turbo or supercharged. also more respect with an all motor car. hope that helps

go jrsc

If you tune a supercharger right, then you'll have no problems with smog or reliability..

Just be sure to save some cash to do the tuning. If you just slap it on there, you're likely to not get much out of it.

Going allmotor is not a smart idea for your daily driver in california. Try to smog it.

thats why im just going for a mild setup w/ all the parts carb legal.... see #1 setup on the top of the page.

all motor ... for some reason, the superchargers out there that's produce for the gsr (jackson, vortech, etc) isnt that great, NA is the way to go, if not turob, but not supercharger.

1999 gsr with hondata, RC440cc and i,h,e @6psi

for smog i just swapped out my p28 ecu and hondata and put in a smc with my stock ecu.

i say go for jrsc. but then if you want to boost why not turbo. but really for your goals it would be much more fun if you go with the supercharger.
