93 integra dies while driving
i drove my car to work this morning and on the freeway it just died on me..after trying to attemp to start it it wouldnt start so i got a tow truck to tow it home once it got home i started it and it worked...its been doing that these past couple days...a friend told me that it might be the started but from what i know the started wouldnt cause the car to die once it was started? does anyone have idea why its doing that would be helpful thanks...

Re: 93 integra dies while driving
EVERYONE always blames the starter and has NO clue what a start actually does
ALL the starter does is turn the motor to start the car.. NOTHING else.. so you are right it is NOT the starter at all.. your friend doenst know what it does, apparently.. lol.. no offense.. i just see this all the time, where the car will be cranking (starter is working), and they keep messing with the starter, instead of checking for spark..
When was the last time you changed your cap and rotor? Spark plugs?
It may be the main fuel relay, but that usually stops the car from actually starting...
I would say your ignition coil or ignitor are going out..
There is a way to test them with a volt meter, but i dont remember... check the FAQ on how to test your dizzy.. im sure you will see that...
ALWAYS check/troubleshoot spark first on dying/no start issues.. its just the easier thing to check, and on a damn honda, that usually tends to be the issue... lol

check your battery terminals... it might be loose or may need to be changed... if it were your alternator it wouldnt start and you would kill your battery pretty quick and if it were your spark plugs you would be choking at high rpms... good luck.

Re: 93 integra dies while driving
no.. the ignition switch would NOT cause it to die while driving.. the only thing that a bad ignition switch would do would be not causing the starter to spin the motor.. that is ALL it will do when that switch is bad..
but yeah.. start with the dizzy.. id put my money on that

Re: 93 integra dies while driving
Sounds like its your MFR (Main Fuel Relay) its located behind the change drawer left of the steering column. Very common problem on the DA's.
When the car isnt starting turn the key to the on position and listen for the fuel pump priming followed by two clicks, if you dont hear those then its MFR.

bingo! i come across this atleast 5-10 a month on average. most people would shotgun it and replace the distributor... just replace the failed component (ignition control mod). do you have a multimeter?

Re: 93 integra dies while driving
I have a 90 integra. My car will start then die while driving. Then won't start at all. Or I'll drive it around the block wait ten minutes go to start it and it won't start. I replaced the distributor and a few weeks later this started to happen. I've checked the fuel pump and it clicks on and someone even told me it could be the fuel filter. I replaced it today and it didn't help at all. Any ideas?
