Default 2001 gsr integra oil pan

Hey guys i was doin oil pump replacemt on my 2001 gsr integra and i found a chunk of magnet. I have attach picture i just cant see where it came from of what is broken... this is a project car was runnin rough and sort of a knock also. Can you tell me where this magnet came from

AFAIK there are no magnets in the engine. Based on the pic that’s a big magnet too.

Just what i though.. i think last person that had the car replace the oil pump but he use different pump from older model (94 to 96 the one without crankshaft position sensor and rewire ecu). Probably he put the magnet there to catch metal shaving, a lease that is my thought...

my mother owned a Dodge Caravan and it had round donut like magnets like that sitting in the transmission pan, I think someone has added that into the pan to collect metal particles, it likely came loose and broke up. It is not a factory part of any sorts.

previous owner was doing ghetto things to the car. Hence the round magnet.

Yup, I mean some transmissions have square magnets stuck to the pan but damn thats big magnet. I guess he wanted to catch any and all metal shavings but you can get the drain plug with a magnet though...

I bet that was a donut magnet typical of what you may find in an old tranny pan, but I'm willing to bet it made contact with the rotating assembly and broke all to hell.

Honda didn't put magnets in their oil pain, a half-*** incompetent person did.
