Default [97 GS] Help! Broke off air intake resonator, can I leave it off?

Heyo, this just happened as I was on my way into work. I hit a curb with my passenger side pulling into the parking lot and something fell down. I originally thought maybe I popped a tire, there was the scraping sounds and personally have never popped a tire, so I wasn't sure what was going on. I parked the car and investigated to find a tank had fallen down inside the passenger wheel well. I have tried to research and figure out what it is and I have not had any luck. Could someone please tell me what it is?! Thanks in advanced!

After looking into more during a quick break, it appears to not actually be a tank, but just a holder for some tubes that go to the airbox. Does anyone know what this system is called so I can figure out where it goes and what the parts are called to fix it?

Haha so I should really do my research before posting :/ found out it's my air intake resonator. So, now the question is, from what I've been reading, it sounds like it's safe to just remove it, but is that true? Does anyone know of a thread talking about this? I'd like to be able to drive home today if possible haha. Anyone here done a resonator delete? Would I need to replace it with another type of intake or is it safe just how it is? I'm not looking for performance, I just want to be able to drive!

You can either reinstall it or leave it off, won't hurt either way.

All it does is help keep your intake quieter, just as an exhaust resonator does for the exhaust. There's no performance gain or loss from removing it and it's completely safe to. Or you could put it back on. It's not too hard to install...just gotta look at where it screws into that's about it.
