i just got a teg and the IDLE is running pretty high at like 1,800-2000rpm. i was wondering if anyone knows what it could be. my friend adjusted the throttle cable is its loosest...
i really need help cause i think its using gas unnecessarily... i appreciate any advise and if someone could help me.. i wanna fix this problem as soon as possible.

Go to the top of the integra forums....there is a post there that says "FAQs". The top link will be how to pull your check engine light code and what it means. After that, come and post it here. Then you can pull the plug on the IACV and see what the car idles at....that will tell you if its electical or mechanical. If the idle problem goes away, its electical, if not, its mechanical (assuming you have a 96+ that doesnt have the FITV). If you have a pre-96, then the little crap on the bottom of the throttle body could be busted and you'd have to repair that (theres a How-to on that as well). Then after you narrow it down a bit.....you'll look for vacuum leaks or the reason the ECU is pumping too much air into the motor. There is an idle adjustment screw that can also adjusted (but it only lets the engine go up to about 1200rpms, thus Im going to assume thats not out of adjustment). You also have a bump stop for the butterfly on the throttle body that could be set wrong and keeping the butterfly open. Most of this is unlikely, but possible. Also, whats your temp gauge sitting at? If the car doesnt heat up then the ECU will purposely keep the car idled up trying to warm it up (bad thermostat would generally cause this).
Now, read all that, check your CEL (check engine light). Then unplug the IACV (record results) and come back and tell us/me what you found.
Or you could take it to a mechanic and he can do all that in about 10 minutes and narrow the problem down and then take another 10 to fix it.
