Lifted Subaru Outback Wagon AWD Honda K Series K24 Acura Turbo Swapped

Lifted Subaru Outback with turbo Honda K24 under the hood retains its all-wheel-drive system and is for sale on Facebook Marketplace!

The iconic Honda K series family of engines, especially the K20 and K24, has found its way under the hood of just about everything there ever was. Seeing a K-swap is just about as common as an LS swap these days. However, there’s still the occasional build that comes from left field. This one is certainly no exception to that rule.

Currently for sale on Facebook Marketplace for only $4,000 is this 2000 Subaru Outback Wagon with a five-speed manual transmission. As you’d expect with a Subaru, it’s all-wheel-drive. As you wouldn’t expect, though, it has a K24 from an Acura TSX under the hood. Not only that, but it’s also turbocharged. We don’t know who is the mastermind behind this monster, but we sure are happy it came to fruition. There is one caveat, though. If you think $4,000 seems like a too-good-to-be-true deal, you aren’t the only one. It currently does not run.

This is not the first K-series swapped Subaru that retains its all-wheel-drive system. Perhaps the most famous example of this phenomenon is the turbo K-series swapped Subaru Impreza WRX STI built by Boostedboiz on Youtube. That one, if you’re unfamiliar, is built for drag racing and runs nine-second quarter-miles. While that is exceedingly respectable, this Outback has a bit more of an allure in terms of the all-wheel-drive K-series department. Imagine taking this thing to the dunes or out into the desert and letting it rip.

Again, the only thing standing between you and that happening is $4,000 and getting it to run. Otherwise, peaking under the hood reveals a cleanly executed swap with a full exhaust, external wastegate, and a plethora of aftermarket parts. So what gives?

What’s Keeping It from Running?

According to the seller, the only thing this car needs to be alive and running again is an ECU. He states that the ECU was removed from this car to be used on another. It seems, then, this car has been sitting idly by since then.

The seller also notes that the car was running on 15 pounds of boost through the K24 when it was alive. Given the notoriety of a well-done turbo K-series build, it’s fairly reasonable to assume that it was running on E85, too. We desperately wish there was a bit more info on the build in the listing. Especially, we wish we knew how much power it was making before the ECU was removed. We have a sneaking suspicion it was quite a lot.

We really hope someone saves this thing. At $4,000, it is extremely tempting. So, if you’ve got the money burning a hole in your pocket and happen to have a spare ECU sitting around (and hopefully know a good tuner), please make your way to Nampa, Idaho, and save this thing from rotting away any further. If you do, please post videos of this thing in action for us all to enjoy. Looking at the pictures is fun and all, but we want to see this asinine project in action.
