Type R Returns: Civic Type R makes its North American Debut at 2016 SEMA Show
Honda has always had a presence every year at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas, Nevada. However, this year is going to be quite special – The Civic Type R is making its North American debut this week! As you probably remember, the CTR made it’s global debut at the Paris Motor Show a few weeks ago. Now it’s here on US soil waiting to be unveiled at SEMA.
Along with the CTR, Honda will be bringing out a plethora of Civics calling it “Civicpalooza”. With the 2017 Civic Hatchback recently hitting the dealer showrooms only a few weeks ago, Honda will be bringing one outfitted with a multitude of HFP (Honda Factory Performance) accessories inside and out. We’re talking emblems, floor mats, front & rear spoilers, and even upgraded brake and wheel packages.
Another one being the Olsbergs MSE (OMSE)/Red Bull GRC (Global Rally Cross) Competitive Race car straight from its season finale covered with dirt, dust, grime, and all. The OMSE/Red Bull Civic is an absolute weapon, built to take on all sorts of challenging terrain including 70-foot jumps. Packing more 600 horsepower, this beast will hit 0-60 in a staggering 1.9 seconds.
Team Honda Research West will be debuting their 2016 Civic Coupe purpose built for endurance racing. Fitted with BFGoodrich tires, FIA-spec roll cage, front air splitter and a hard-to-miss swan neck rear GT wing, this Civic means absolute business. The team plans to take it to the USAF 25 Hours of Thunderhill to make its racing debut. Good luck to Team Honda Research West!
A few more Civic projects will be present on the SEMA floor from SEGA/Sonic The Hedgehog, HPD (Honda Performance Development), aLL-StAR Performance/Tjin Edition, MAD Industries, and Meguiar’s. Along with all the Civic madness, Honda also invited various companies to bring out some modified 2017 Ridgelines.
Lots to look forward to from Honda this year at SEMA. Please stay tuned for more updates!
