Sleeper 1995 NSX Packs Sequential Gearbox + 1,000 HP K24?

Navin, the owner of this unsuspectingly vicious NSX, built this car himself over the last 8 years. The work has paid off, this car is bonafide.

Many of us idolize the first generation NSX for its timeless aesthetic, smooth driving experience, and overall undeniable road presence. It is without a doubt a supercar in all aspects.

While the NSX is without a doubt a fast car, it never boasted insane horsepower figures from the factory. This is partly due to the fact that the C30A V6 found initially in the NSX was truly a novel engine at its time and at that, expensive.

At the time, this was Honda’s first real performance application of the now commonplace VTEC. A lot can happen in 30 years of development since the initial release of the NSX.

So when it comes time that those increasingly rare V6s need replacement, a lot of NSX owners have been putting in the simpler and more reliable Honda staple, the K-series, into the NSX.

We support this of course, as we’d rather see a running NSX that one sitting waiting for a heart. Keeping it in the family is without a doubt bonus points.

We found a particular NSX that really impressed us. Thanks to That Racing Channel on Youtube, we introduce Navin‘s 1995 Acura NSX.

Built not bought- a real passion project

1000 HP NSX

There is a lot of builds we feature that are either sponsored by a shop or are built by somebody else other than the owner themselves. Not this one.

“I fully built this motor myself- from the ground up. Every nut and bolt, it’s everything on me. I turned every wrench on this thing. The fabrication was all me as well, too. Bought me a TIG welder, practiced and made it work.”

We love to see owners put their heart and soul into these builds. He did all the work on the car except the engine tuning. This a long-term project that Navin has owned now for over 8 years.

Two years ago, he finally made the decision to make the switch the K-engine. The swap itself took about a year to get it running right.

As with any build, it is a work in progress. However, it has already seen some iterations.

This is the second turbo setup already for the car, as their initial twin-scroll setup ended up being too complicated and running too hot.

Now the car runs a bottom mount Precision Turbo 6287 instead, with some great results. Dyno tested at 700 WHP at 20 psi and 950 WHP at 40 psi (full boost).

That’s out of a 2.4L four-cylinder. We think that’s nuts. However, the build is just getting started.

No lift shifting, working A/C, and flames included

Connected to the built K24A2 via a custom billet bell housing is a Quaife sequential transmission. This takes this build to a whole other level (of cost as well). Hearing the sounds of this K24 bang shifts off like a race car is something special.

Throw a turbo setup on there and add flames and a backfire every time you shift and well, you just created the ultimate Honda tuner dream vehicle.

From the outside this NSX may look like a slightly modified one to the keen observer, but it has no obvious standouts to show its true nature.

However, as one “Eleanor” 1967 Mustang found out at the end of the video, this Honda is not to be played with. Approach with caution.

We really like this build and are excited to see what’s in store for its future. So if you see a Formula Red NSX snapping shifts off in Houston, prepare to be amazed.
