One-owner, 27k Mile Integra Type R Hits the Auction Block

A legend of the ’90s, the ITR finally gets its due as a bona-fide classic.

The Acura Integra Type R is a legend that needs no introduction, especially to this audience. For us older Honda fans who grew up on Hondas in the 1990s, it represents the mountaintop. Keep in mind, American Honda enthusiasts in those days were more or less used to the fact that Japan got to keep all of the very best stuff for themselves. If you wanted to drive the upper echelon of high-performance Hondas in those days, you fired up your PlayStation and popped in Gran Turismo.

To say that the Integra Type R is an iconic car for those Honda fans of a certain age is an understatement. Now, those Honda fans are older – and they have money. As a direct result, low-mileage, well-preserved, unmolested Integra Type Rs change hands for big money. Want proof? Check out this 1998 Acura Integra Type R on BringATrailer.

With just 27,000 miles on the odometer, this Type R looks as close to showroom fresh as it gets. Its iconic Championship white exterior is set off by matching wheels, while inside, you’ll find a black cloth interior with red stitching.

Those subtle red accents offset the red valve cover found in the engine bay, as well as the red letter “R” found throughout the car. In the engine bay, you’ll also find a Comptech airbox, an era-appropriate upgrade, and the only deviation from stock aside from Koni shocks and struts.

Offered for sale by the original owner, this car has been fastidiously maintained, being treated to Mobil 1 synthetic oil over its entire lifetime. The seller recently repainted to front lip to address some rock chips, but the rest of the paint is original. Just 1,000 Integra Type Rs found their way stateside in 1998, all of them painted Championship White. This car is number 79. With a recent timing belt service performed, this Integra is ready for whatever the next two decades will bring.

As of this writing, the bidding is rapidly approaching $40,000. For anyone who’s ever said that Japanese cars will never be collectible, we hope their hat tastes good dipped in A1.
