Acura RDX MDX TLX Leak Interior Options Engine Drive Modes Lighting Seats

Images of forthcoming Acura products found hidden in contemporary RDX SUV head unit system user interface files.

Acura has been steadily chipping away at its model line up, offering updates, revisions, and some new models, altogether. Take for example the 2019 Acura RDX, which is an excellent compact luxury SUV. It’s not just us who thinks so, as well, because on Honda-tech‘s sister site AcuraZine, forum user rdx.god was playing around with their RDX and found some juicy hidden information.

Specifically, this user may have just found images of the next generation 2021 Acura MDX SUV and TLX sedan. Here’s what they have to say about it:

Mods forgive me for posting this on the RDX page, it is related since I was looking around in the RDX files on the headunit

I was digging around images in the com.android.systemui package located on the RDX, loaded it into android developer toolkit, and low and behold, they have had images of the unreleased 2021 MDX on our RDX this whole time.

It is definitely different then what is currently released, and it fits the look of what they have leaked so far but with covers over the car.

I do not think Acura meant for any of us to see this quite yet. Feast your eyes on the 2021 MDX, you are the first to see it, sorry to spoil the fun Acura…

Also I can tell some of the new features that are possibly going to be released from other images in this file.’

Say hello to the new MDX and TLX, pictured above.

Curious about what’s under the hood? Well, don’t be. Because these new models come with a drive mode selector, that among other things, sharpens up the throttle response when “Sport” mode is selected. Of course, without an engine graphic, how is one to know when it’s ready to do sporty things? With a cool graphic, of course. Looks like the J35/J37 V6 family of engines is carrying on here, unless Acura has decided to build an all-new single cam V6 engine line up, which is improbable.

Of additional note is that these new models are likely to be adept handlers. We spy double wishbone front suspensions and multi-link rear suspensions on both TLX and MDX, which is nice.

Here is what people can expect from the interior lighting when the different drive modes are selected. The meta data has these labeled as “Sport,” “Normal,” and “Comfort.”

We have to say, it sounds cheesy, but that interior lighting package looks awesome.

Don’t worry, if you want more slick graphics to appear on your infotainment screen, Acura has you covered. The different drive modes are also represented here. Though, this time, the only found images are for “Sport” and “Comfort” modes.

Interestingly, there are many screens for various drive modes. Eight of them, in fact, though we suspect that some of these are test/development names, and not likely to make it to production. Though, “Lift” has us intrigued. Is the MDX coming with an adjustable air suspension? It is a somewhat common thing on high-end luxury SUV models, like Range Rovers and Mercedes-Benz, after all.

Last, but not least, especially for the older crowd with bad backs is the seat adjustability options. Naturally, everything in the front seats is electric (duh), but, in our old age, the more options to get comfy behind the wheel, the better.

That’s it, for now. Are these tweaks to the MDX and TLX enough to get you in the showroom? Drop a comment below and let us know.
