Million Mile Honda CRX Si

Killer 1991 Honda CRX Si has racked up a million miles on its original powertrain and is now on display in Tampa.

Most people – even non-car enthusiasts – are well aware of Honda’s legendary reputation for building reliable vehicles. There are plenty of Honda vehicles out there in the world with hundreds of thousands of miles on them, which is a big part of the reason why many of us own one in the first place. But few people are willing to rack up a million miles on any vehicle, while most vehicles won’t last that long, at least not with their original powertrain intact. However, this 1991 Honda CRX Si, on display at Tampa Honda, is such a car.

As one might imagine, a car like this is truly something special and deserves some sort of recognition. It’s also a fantastic way for a dealership to tout the reliability of Honda in general, and that’s precisely what the Honda CRX Si has been doing for a few years now. After the owner crested the million-mile mark (the car has traveled 1,002,473 miles, to be exact) back in 2015, he loaned the car to Tampa Honda so that it could display it in their showroom.

And there it sits, with a big green sticker proudly declaring its impressive feat on the windshield. But while that feat is certainly newsworthy, it’s also worth noting that the car is also in pretty excellent condition given its astronomical mileage figure. The CRX Si‘s original 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine and five-speed manual transmission are still there, as is the original interior. The car was repainted roughly nine years ago, but it’s otherwise untouched.

Even with the new paint, we’re slightly shocked at how good the CRX Si looks after a million miles. Clearly, whoever owned this classic Honda took fantastic care of it while also driving it incredible distances over the years, which we can obviously appreciate. It’s unclear if the little hatch has had any sort of engine work, but even if it has, this is one achievement worth celebrating, not to mention touting loudly as potential customers walk through the doors looking for a car they can keep for a lifetime.
