K24-Swapped Civic EG Hatch Is a Twisted Tuner Classic
Matt Farah’s “One-Take” videos are nothing new, but this particular take is a little different for one reason: the owner of this 1992 Honda Civic EG hatchback chose not to ride along with Farah for the test drive, because the owner wanted him to truly feel the car’s slim weight, 2,200 pounds to be exact.
This classic tuner has been completely overhauled to be a drag-specific racer. The owner swapped in a 2.4-liter inline-four K24 VTEC engine from a 2008 Acura TSX to more than double power, up to 190 wheel horsepower. To handle that extra power, it has extra bracing on the chassis and suspension, and a Quaife limited slip differential. Additionally, the rear interior has been stripped, it has light-weight wheels wrapped in Toyo Proxes R888, Wilwood front brakes, and a new NRG racing steering wheel. And the K-Tuned billet shifter is one of the coolest we’ve ever seen.
Farah mentions that this thing goes about 8.5 in the 1/8th mile, which is nothing mind-blowing, but still pretty okay. Check out his thoughts on how the car feels below, then let us know yours.
