Integra GS-R Appears on Craigslist with Insane Asking Price

2000 Acura Integra GSR GS-R Hatchback Coupe

Gorgeous black Integra GS-R is in showroom condition despite its high mileage, but the seller wants low mileage Type R numbers.

It’s definitely not a secret that the market for the legendary Acura Integra has gone skyrocketing recently. As such, anyone with one may as well think they’re sitting on a gold mine. With massive numbers appearing on auction sites, it’s easy to see why. However, ultra low-mileage collection-ready cars fetching numbers deep into the five-figure range is making people do crazy things. This black 2000 Integra GS-R for sale in Palm Springs, California, is a perfect example.

While many people selling cars love to throw around the word “perfect” when describing their vehicle, typically, it’s not the case. However, the pictures on this Craigslist ad for this GS-R seem to back up that claim. Save for some minor paint chipping on the valve cover and typical wavy wear on the leather seats; it looks damn near perfect. We wish we could be excited about this car. Unfortunately, we can’t. What’s stopping us? Well, that’d be the $30,000 asking price.

What’s with the price?

That’s not a typo. The asking price is $30,000. We can’t even begin to fathom what would possess someone to actually put that price on their ad, but this guy’s really done it. The thing is, if this car had some insanely low mileage, we might be a bit more understanding here. After all, the highest bid Integra in Bring A Trailer history was a black Integra GS-R coupe, just like this one. However, it embodies the claim of perfection far better than this example. Furthermore, it had less than 2,500 miles on it. On the other hand, this one has 160,000 miles, which is relatively high for a GS-R from the model year 2000. More recently, a 1999 Integra GS-R in Milano Red with only 47,000 original miles. It sold earlier this year for $17,550. At the time, we thought that was insane, but apparently, it was the deal of the century. That, or that Milano Red car is worth something like $50,000 now, right?

For a similar price over on Team Integra, there’s a tastefully modified genuine Type R for $27,500. Even that seems a little high from our perspective, but crazier things have happened.

We truly wish this seller the best of luck. Perhaps there is someone out there who has a spare $30,000 burning a hole in their pocket that would rather have a high mileage GS-R over a low mileage Type R. As crazy as that sounds; you never know who you might run into. However, our thinking is that this car is best suited on Bring A Trailer or Cars and Bids. That way, the market can speak for itself. Both sites have extreme reach to some of the most niche buyers out there, which has been repeatedly proven. While we don’t suspect this car will fetch anywhere near the asking price, the seller is open to offers.

What do you think? Is this pretty old Integra way overpriced, or is the seller in the ballpark? What do you think it’s worth?
