Honda Sweeps KBB’s “Best Buy Awards”

By -

Honda claims 7 of 13 categories, including the overall best buy of all.

Honda is one of the few automotive manufacturers who manage to win the hearts of automotive enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts alike. That’s something very few brands are able to do year in and year out.

For example, in a typical household, there could be a CR-V for the parents who could care less about cars but wants a comfortable, good-looking and reliable family ride. Then there’s a Civic Si for the family hooligan. Oh, and not to mention a couple of dirtbikes or ATVs for the weekend adventures. Heck, there’s even Honda lawn and garden equipment. In other words, versatility and reliability are two characteristics that have helped Honda become who they are in the United States.

Every year the Kelley Blue Book (KBB) releases their Best Buy Awards, and Honda cars and SUVs stole seven out of the thirteen categories! While test driving these vehicles is crucial, and KBB staff does so for weeks at a time,┬áresale value and “5-Year Cost to Own” calculations play a large role in selecting one specific vehicle out of two fierce and evenly matched competitors.

Perhaps the most important of them all is the all-new 2018 Honda Accord, which not only won the midsize sedan category but also the overall best buy of 2018. For the small-car category, the 2018 Honda Civic took the win, the Honda Odyssey for the minivan segment, and the CR-V for the small SUV category.

Of course, the Pilot being one of the most loved family SUVs helped it conquer the midsize SUV category rather easily. Lastly, the 2018 Clarity PHEV took the Electric/Hybrid category. All in all, Honda had the most models in this edition of the Best Buy Awards, with Ford and Audi tying with two models each.
