Honda S2000 Sets Multiple Half-mile World Records for the Sake of VTEC
When your daily driver is a 200 mph four-cylinder.
T1 Race Development is a shop that specializes in making some of the fastest Nissan GTRs on earth. To make this possible, they hire some of the best in the industry for development, tuning, and customer builds. One the company’s employees is a man named Stuart Leiby, and he now owns the fastest half-mile S2000 on planet earth.
If you follow 1320 Video on YouTube, you have probably seen Stuart’s S2000 at some point. It used to be white and covered in Nyancat graphics. Now Stuart is back, and his S2000 is murdered out in black and faster than ever. During this 20-minute video, you will see Stuart break the half-mile record for S2000s no less than four times. He was aiming to break the 200 mph barrier, but sadly it wasn’t in the cards. He managed to “only” hit 198.85 mph.
And here is where things really get wild. This nearly 200 mph S2000 is using the exact same short block it hit the showroom floor with. There is no 2JZ swap, and there is not a small block in sight. This is pure Honda power coupled with incredible tuning and engineering to create an absolute track monster.
The car is boosted with a 68-millimeter turbo, and the transmission has been swapped for a six-speed sequential box, but most of this car is hilariously simple and down to earth. Even his rear-end has humble origins; Stuart is simply using a stock Nissan R200 pulled from a naturally aspirated 300ZX.
To put on final cherry on top of this badass Sunday, Stuart uses this car as his daily driver. This record-shattering S2000 is the exact same car he makes the Dunkin’ run with on his way to work on Monday morning. Talk about living the dream.
