Honda Recaro Race Seats

Universal seats feature recline, lumbar support, and cooling vents.

Regardless of what model of Honda you drive, the odds are good that the seats were designed for durability and daily driving comfort more than focusing on a sporty looking or keep you firmly in place during stints of spirited cornering. Of course, if you have a performance model like the new Civic Type R, the seats are better about grip under hard cornering, but even those seats fall short of a proper race-style seat.

Fortunately, Recaro has a wide variety of sport seats that will fit in your Honda and right now, “Mikkellucci” has a set for sale at a fraction of the original price, complete with a handful of features that will keep you far more comfortable than any stock seat and many aftermarket racing seats.

The seller does not mention what kind of car that they came out of, but these seats are more or less universal, so they should fit into most modern Honda vehicles with some work. We are unclear as to what you have to do to actually bolt them into place; whether they bolt in directly or if you need to supply some addition components to make the universal seat line up with the factory mounting points, but once in place, they offer many of the comforts of a stock seat coupled with the advantages of a race seat.

Premium Comfort in a Sport Seat

The key attractions of adding these Recaro buckets to your Honda are the look and the support during spirited driving, but unlike some race-style seats, these have a collection of production-like features. Some cheaper race seats have fixed backs, so they only move forward and backward relative to the steering wheel. Those seats are great if their fixed angle works for you, and if you don’t ever want to easily access the back seat.

Fortunately, these Recaro seats are built to recline and flip forward, so you can adjust the seating angle to your comfort and when someone needs to get into the back seat of a coupe or hatchback, the seatback folds forward for easier access. Seriously, if you haven’t tried to climb into the back seat of a small coupe with a fixed racing seat, it is a nightmare that usually requires you to crawl between the front seats, but that isn’t a problem with these beautiful buckets.

In addition to being able to recline and fold forward, these Recaro seats have adjustable lumbar support and a spot to mount a cooling fan on the underside, so with a little work, your Honda can come away from this upgrade with seats that look great, feel great and function similarly to a stock seat. Best of all, with a list price of $1,400, that is roughly what one of these seats costs new, so if you are in the Ohio area, you can score a smokin’ deal on these gorgeous Recaro buckets.

"Before I was old enough to walk, my dad was taking me to various types of racing events, from local drag racing to the Daytona 500," says Patrick Rall, a lifetime automotive expert, diehard Dodge fan, and respected auto journalist for over 10 years. "He owned a repair shop and had a variety of performance cars when I was young, but by the time I was 16, he was ready to build me my first drag car – a 1983 Dodge Mirada that ran low 12s. I spent 10 years traveling around the country, racing with my dad by my side. While we live in different areas of the country, my dad still drag races at 80 years old in the car that he built when I was 16 while I race other vehicles, including my 2017 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and my 1972 Dodge Demon 340.

"Although I went to college for accounting, my time in my dad’s shop growing up allowed me the knowledge to spend time working as a mechanic before getting my accounting degree, at which point I worked in the office of a dealership group. While I was working in the accounting world, I continued racing and taking pictures of cars at the track. Over time, I began showing off those pictures online and that led to my writing.

"Ten years ago, I left the accounting world to become a full-time automotive writer and I am living proof that if you love what you do, you will never “work” a day in your life," adds Rall, who has clocked in time as an auto mechanic, longtime drag racer and now automotive journalist who contributes to nearly a dozen popular auto websites dedicated to fellow enthusiasts.

"I love covering the automotive industry and everything involved with the job. I was fortunate to turn my love of the automotive world into a hobby that led to an exciting career, with my past of working as a mechanic and as an accountant in the automotive world provides me with a unique perspective of the industry.

"My experience drag racing for more than 20 years coupled with a newfound interest in road racing over the past decade allows me to push performance cars to their limit, while my role as a horse stable manager gives me vast experience towing and hauling with all of the newest trucks on the market today.

"Being based on Detroit," says Rall, "I never miss the North American International Auto Show, the Woodward Dream Cruise and Roadkill Nights, along with spending plenty of time raising hell on Detroit's Woodward Avenue with the best muscle car crowd in the world.
