DB2 Integra GS-R Is Near Pristine But Comes With A Hefty Price Tag

DB2 Acura Integra DB2 for Sale Irvine California Facebook Marketplace

California-kept DB2 Integra GS-R is in amazing condition for its age. With 192k miles and some body damage, is it worth the asking price?

Early in 2021, we brought you the story of a DC2 Acura Integra with an eye-watering $30,000 asking price despite having over 160,000 miles. The owner of that car claimed the value came from the fact that it’s a GS-R, arguing that they are harder to find in good condition than a Type R. Obviously, that logic is insane, given that $30,000 is still enough money to get a decent condition Type R. However, given the insane upturn of the market and the rarity of the DB2 Integra GS-R, we aren’t quite sure what to think of this asking price.

Currently listed on Facebook marketplace is this absolutely stunning DB2 Integra GS-R finished in Aztec Green Pearl. Undoubtedly, this is the spec you’d want in a DB2. However, while it is in fantastic shape, it does have a few faults. Furthermore, the odometer is sitting pretty at 196,000 miles. So, that begs the question; is the $10,000 asking price just fine or out of line?

DB2 Acura Integra DB2 Interior

Looks Like 20K Miles, Not Nearly 200,000

The seller states that the carpets are aftermarket, so the fitment is slightly off. However, the dash, seats, plastics, shift boot, and even the optional cupholder are in amazing shape. If you told us the entire interior had been restored with a bunch of parts replaced, we’d believe you. However, that doesn’t seem to be the case. Aside from the carpets, the seller does not disclose that anything else has been replaced.

Adding to the list of original components are the B17A1 engine and accompanying five-speed manual transmission. Finding any Honda or Acura chassis of this vintage that hasn’t had an engine swap or even a replacement transmission is getting harder and harder. So, this DB2 Integra definitely gets some points for that. Additional points come in the form of functioning air conditioning, functioning power steering, and the fact that it passes smog inspections in California.

We know what you’re thinking, though. Despite all of this, this price still seems a bit steep, right?

DB2 Acura Integra DB2 Roof Honda Clear Coat Sun Crack Fade

Classic Honda Clear Coat Failure Is Always A Bit Off  Putting

We’ve all seen the dreaded patchy clear coat fade atop one too many gorgeous Integras, Preludes, Civics, and any other Honda of this vintage. Calling it uncommon is nothing but a bald-faced lie, so it’s to be expected here. Additionally, there is a small dent on the driver-side fender that’s been repaired with touch-up paint. Finally, the passenger side mirror has a crack in it.

All this may lead the untrained eye to think that this is just a lofty asking price full of nothing but high hopes. There’s one issue, though. At the time of writing, this sale is listed as pending. We think the seller will absolutely get his asking price, and we’ll tell you why.

Only 3,968 DB2 Integra GS-Rs were made for the US market. They’re exceptionally rare. Like us, you may be shocked to find out that another Aztec Green Pearl DB2 GS-R with faded headlights, suspension modifications, and in rougher condition than this one sold on Bring A Trailer for $10,000 in October 2019.

Obviously, the used car market has taken a ridiculously sharp upturn over the past year. What looked like a high-hopes price tag at the beginning suddenly looks like a great deal for someone with this much spare capital for an old car. Who knows? Maybe after a few years, it’ll be worth the $30,000 that DC2 owner was asking!
