Clarion Builds Supercharged Acura NSX to be Auctioned with Barrett-Jackson for Charity
NSX sold at Las Vegas auction will benefit the American Red Cross
In October, Barrett-Jackson will auction off the Clarion Builds 1991 Acura NSX with the sale benefiting the American Red Cross. It will cross the block sometime between October 19 and 21 at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas.
The Clarion Builds NSX became one of four recent projects for international automotive electronics company Clarion. The project NSX began as an early-year NSX with about 230,000 miles on it. You wouldn’t know the mileage from looking at the car now, however. Clarion wanted to use the NSX as a base for a restomod project, so they turned to AutoWave for a full rebuild.
The restomod began by removing the high-mileage 3.0-liter V6. In its place, they swapped a 3.2-liter version from a 2004 NSX. That wasn’t quite enough for the build, so AutoWave added a supercharger to increase wheel horsepower to more than 400. That comes with a custom intake and exhaust. The entire suspension was upgraded in every way along with some donated sponsor bits from StopTech in the form of an ST40 big brake kit.
The exterior was upgraded extensively with widened fenders, carbon fiber all over the place, and a set of gorgeous RAYS Volk Racing 18-inch wheels. AutoWave borrowed the paint code, Blu Caelum, from a Lamborghini Huracán.
Inside, the NSX also got a much-needed refresh. LeatherSeats.com provided much of the reupholstering. Without any other information, you could mistake the interior for that of a modern supercar rather than a very-1990s Honda supercar. Clarion makes much of its business from selling stereo equipment, so their Clarion Builds NSX naturally kicks with a great sound system. Clarion Digital Sound components comprise the system along with an aftermarket seven-inch Clarion touchscreen head unit.
You can find more information and details on the build via Speedhunters and the Clarion USA YouTube Channel. The playlist below, specifically, chronicles much of the build. The NSX will be on the docket for Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas.
