Green 400-HP Blown B18 EG Hatch + FWD Burnouts = Amazing

Supercharged B18 EG Hatch

Not often that you see a one-off blower setup on a EG Hatch Civic, especially not one that looks straight out of a late ’90s tuner magazine.

Nothing makes us happier than seeing a quality classic Honda build. It’s not often that the Hoonigan YouTube channel features a Honda, so when they do, we make sure to highlight it.

Safe to say that this custom-built 1994 Honda Civic Si EG Hatch impressed us at first glance. However, to our joyous surprise, the deeper you looked, the better it got. Not too many EG Hatch Civics in the world can boast this quality level.

The owner of this stunner goes by Roger. He is a long-time Honda fan and this hatch is the culmination of several years worth of work along with a lot of trial and error in the process.

The best part is this Civic looks like a show car from the outside, but she was made to get rowdy with some tricks up her sleeve. Let’s dive into the details!

Clean On the Inside, Clean On the Outside

One of the first things you might notice about this beautiful EG Hatch is the paint color. Not a color you see very often on any car, let alone a classic Honda.

This color is known as Desert Sage Green Metallic, which happens to be an old-school Lexus color. Even though the paint sitting on the car is actually over 12 years old, it looks like it just got sprayed yesterday.

The clear on the carbon hood perfectly matches the radiance of the paint, providing a stunning exterior look. Pair a clean set of Volk TE37s in 15×8 +35 with a 205mm tire and you have a proper looking setup.

Little details like the GSR rear disc brakes and carbon rear hatch spoiler really take this build to the next level. You can just tell there is a certain level of professionalism and dedication to this project.

Custom-built, One-off Supercharger

While the car might already look stunning from afar, it is beneath the hood that really sets this Civic apart from other quality builds.

Many will not be surprised to see the B18C1 engine swap from a USDM GS-R Integra, a common upgrade from the lazier single-cam D-series originally found in the Civic Si.

However, one shocking modification you seldom will find connected to B18, especially in an EG engine bay, is a supercharger.

Yes, this Civic has custom-fitted a Vortech supercharger kit that was originally built for an Integra or EM1 Civic and made it work.

EG Hatch Gets Better

Thus, with some fabrication and ingenuity, they were able to convert this kit for use in the EG. However, this blower is just one piece of the puzzle.

The engine bay has also been tucked and painted and features air-to-water cooling for the forced induction setup. This is combined with a heat exchanger upfront for maximum efficiency.

The more you look at the details, the more you can tell the time put into this project. The billet valve cover, the A/N lines, the custom strut bar built to spec, everything is clean and professional.

Not only does it look good, but this setup allows the 1.8L engine to push a serious 400 HP in an ultra-light 2,200-pound chassis.

Every Honda Fan’s Dream Interior

If you thought this Civic couldn’t get any better, just wait until you see the inside! A beautiful Spoon Gen 3 steering wheel initially greets you with a set of stunning Suede SR4 Recaros with the Tomcat fabric centers.

In addition, there is the JDM center console with a set of 6 gauges and a one-off Titanium shift knob to match. However, the true cherry on top is the 100% functional S2000 instrument cluster, an amazing addition to any Honda build.

In old school style, he also has the footwell P28 ECU running Hondata on display in a glass case. This truly is a move straight out of a classic tuner magazine and we are all for it.

Combine that with the half-cage painted to color match the blue Willwood front BBK and we can’t really ask for much more.

Made to Burn (Rubber)

Hearing the idling hum of the supercharged B-series for the first time is an exciting experience. The intense and distinctive whine even at idle would have your neck broken at any stoplight.

You can already see the Hoonigan crew’s clear stamp of approval just based on the sound alone. Even then, we still want to see this thing bounce off the rev limiter!

Thus, before Roger could leave, it was obligatory to see some tire-shredding with the high-power Civic. However, FWD burnouts aren’t as easy, especially with the sticky tires equipped.

Thus after the team unsuccessfully tried to hold the car down during the first two pulls, they decided it was only right to ratchet strap the car down to keep it gridlocked.

Once locked down, the EG Hatch Civic was truly able to shine and truly destroy some fresh rubber. What did you guys think of this unique old-school-style build? Let us know your thoughts here on Honda-Tech by joining the discussion!
