I've done most of the hard stuff already.........

removed the y7 IM
scraped off the gasket
got my two feet of hoses to extended all the coolant/fuel lines

i've come to an obrupt halt for now, but i am having some trouble getting my throttle cable secured correctly. I am using the stock throttle cable from my 99 y7 on the 2000 y8 IM.

Does anyone have a pic they could show of their throttle cable & bracket on a similiar set-up? Anyone have any ideas? It seems as if the throttle cable is too short. I can't keep it stable on the bracket and stil have enough slack/deflection to work.

Any ideas, or information is greatly appreciated

also if anyone could give a pic of a couple of the coolant lines. i'm having a little trobule distingishing which lines go where... i'll post pics of confusing ones soon

try this site, thats what i used me and my brother in law did my intake manifold swap, we didnt have any issues with the throttle cable,it should be long enough, and which throttle cable plate are you using the y7 or the y8? because your supposed to use the y8 throttle cable plate ( the gold round piece on the throttle body with the spring) http://www.makuragi.s5.com/civic_99/Y8maniswap/

I read on a How-To for this project that stated i could just connect these two each other with a U shaped hose. Is that true? if it is then do I need to plug the holes that these would have connected to?



I know the top line goes to the PCV valve, but where does the one under it go? Someone said it was the EVAP, but where do I connect it to? The black plastic lines in front of the fuel rail?



I'm completely stumped on this one. I've seen the y8 IM from the How-To that didn't even have one of these. It's not air injection because that line is next to the throttle cable bracket, so what is this one?

I need help but I am patiently working towards doing this myself. I'm just a little stumped right now. Gotta walk to work soon

I need to use the y8 throttle cable plate. that may be the problem. I removed the screw but this thing won't come off. i suppose i have to use a more power on this one. that's the How-To I've been using... thanks

I still can't see where to connect the EVAP line from the pictures in the How-To.

And the nipple on the front of the manifold isn't even on the y8 manifold used in the How-To

is there some kind of trick to removing the throttle cable plate?? removed the bolt and this thing won't budge

i've got it off and have the y8 plate on the y7 tb. it seems to have trouble retracting, but it seems one more problem has been solved

that mystery hose is only on the 99+ ex's, if you have a 96-98, plug it

That top nipple on the surfcae where the IM meets the head you need to plug, and you also need to plug the small holes in the intake manifold that mate with the intake mani if you are putting the car on a 96-98 (in 99-00 there were extra air injection holes.) If you need anymore specific help, pm me. I put a 99-00 y8 intake mani on my 97 y7.

the How-To mentioned bypassing the IAC valve by placing a U shaped hose connecting the two......... should i do that? I only ask b/c i think the How-To used the 96-98 IM and I have a 2000 intake manifold

again thanks for the help. with the help i'm getting i'll definitely be done tomorrow. my father is going to drive down and let me use his tools

Check my post. It's extra Air Inection Ports for the 99-00. You need to plug that hose and also jb weld the holes shut on the face of the intake manifold that mates with the head. I did'nt run a U between the two nipples, I actually ran the coolant through them like you should if you want a more normal idle in the cool. I can check on them and see where they go to/come from tomorrow morning if you would like.

do i need to plug the air injection even if i have a 99? do i just use one of the air injection plugs?

If you have a 99 I have no idea what to do about the Air Injection Stuff. I don't even have the nipple plugged in my 97, just jb welded the holes shut and was done with it (on the surface that mates to the head).

well my 99 y7 IM has one and the 2000 IM seems to have two

i'll count them again.......

y8 = 9 nipples - 1 Cruise control = 8 nipples

y7 = 8 nipples

i've identified all of them, 2 on tb - both coolant lines, 2 in front - top PCV bottom EVAP, 2 on left side (passenger side) - coolant - one large one small, 1 on the top back, 1 by the throttle cable bracket - air injection, 1 in the front - as of yet unidentified

could you also check where the evap hose goes in the morning? thanks

this nipple on the front seems to big for air injection. the other air injection is tiny like the air injection on the y7. i really should have taken pics of the y7 connections beforehand

OOPS!!!

There are 10 nipples on the y8.

2 on TB
2 in the front/top
2 on the side
1 air injection next to throttle cable bracket
1 on top/back
1 criuse control on back
1 in the front

consider the one in the front plugged. i have determined it to be extra because the other nipples have all been accounted for and link to similiar nipples on the y7. if any of you disagree then feel free to dispute my claim

if you can just check on the location of the EVAP hose and the location of the coolant lines on the tb i'd appreciate it

so if you put a 99+ y8 intake manifold on a 99+ DX engine, do the little air injection holes above the fuel injector still need to be plugged up??

a 99-00 y8 IM being put on a 99-00 y7 engine requires that the nipple right under/in front of/directly behind the fuel rail be plugged up. the tiny nipple at the top of the manifold by the throttle cable bracket is NOT plugged up, it should be attached to the hose coming from the top of the fuel pressure regulator
