Default Door Locking issue after replacing the "main" problem

I've been having a problem with my driver's side door lock for about two weeks. I have a ej6 (99 dx) so I don't have power door locks, but I do have an alarm that allows for keyless entry. I took off the door panel and discovered that the "front lock rod" had broken off the inner handle. So I order the part from Honda and replaced the entire inner handle. When I start my car the door's lock automatically if the doors are shut. When I start my car I can see/hear it lock along with my other door, but it almost instanteously unlocks. Does anyone know what the problem might be?? it makes a weird noise when it unlocks after I lock it. I'm completely stumped as to what it might be.................. Thanks in advance

is the door open when it tries to lock?? are they factory locks or aftermarket actuators?? honda oem door locks will do that if they are locked while the doors are open..

No. The lock is factory, but the alarm is a Viper. I try to lock it when the door is closed, either with me in it & the engine on, or with me out of it turning on the alarm when I park it. The door won't stay locked. It'll move the switch to the lock position but it won't stay locked.

I had the same problem, but my door locks stuck in the locked position. Your locks sound like they are stuck in the unlock position. The lock with seem to lock....but actually not be all the way there. Kinda like if you try and lock the driver door without holding the handle.

I had to buy new locks.

I had a similar problem and it was just how the rod was sitting... it was binding on part of the door sill when it tried to lock the physical lock part of the handle...

I believe something was just minorly out of place... I snapped it back into place and it has worked ever since.

just try making sure it's un-obstructed... take off the door panel and watch it to see if there's any indication where it's binding...

Oh and out of curiosity... So when you have a non-power lock car, the latch is still power?? usually the alarm installer installs aftermarket actuators because the stock one's are only included on power lock models...

I checked all the rods. None were bent. Nothing was rubbing. Nothing was frozen. They just jammed one day and never worked again. The thing was my doors were locked shut. The only way for me to get them open was drill the entire lock mechanism out from the inside of the door and rotozip the latch/U shaped hitch on the inside of the door jam. Once I was able to get the door open, the locks were completely destroyed. I puchased new mechanisms and have been ok for about 1yr now.

Got it working. It was an easy fix. Took your advice, took it apart again after I replaced the inner handle, and found out what was wrong. The front lock rod had fallen off of the crank holder. Took 2 seconds to fix. Once I got the door panel off, it was obvious when I saw the rod just hanging there swinging freely. Pics cuz I'm bored as hell.

Door with panel removed

I had to replace this because the front lock rod had broken off. The entire piece is one whole part cost $3x.xx from South Honda Dealership

This is the rod that was hanging off. Put it back in place and the door locked with no problems.

Thanks for the help everyone.
