HOW TO: Remove ECU pins on harness
I was going through the search today wondering how to remove the pins off the ECU hareness. Well after searching I really did'nt find too much info except one diagram of how the pins were locked in place. I would say it did help me a little. After a bit of trial and error. I thought of another idea. Try a paper clip. After a bit of testing...i finally got it right. It took less than a minute to remove all the pins off the clips. This will also save you money from buying the Honda tool.
First you will need a wire cutter and paper clip (perferably a thick size).
Then you want to straighten one end of the paper clip so that it is straight.
Take the wire cutter and cut the paper clip at an angle so that it will be cut with a sharp edge.
Now that is done. You want to open the ECU plug up so the that pins are easy to remove. Look at the sides of the plugs. You will see tabs to open it up. Open and Flip.
With the tab flipped open. Loooking at it from the front view. You can see the top is opening is larger than the botton.
You want to insert the paper clip (sharp end pointed downward) to point at the clip that is to be removed.
From here you want to hold the wire to remove and push forward towards end where paper clip is. And with the paper clip press against the tab inside the plug and push the paper clip upward and pull on the wires. Easy as 1-2-3... Good Luck!
Here is a diagram from BANDWAGONEER of what that tab to push at looks like. You want to press at where it says 'NEEDLE'.

Re: HOW TO: Remove ECU pins on harness (acuracing)
I usually just open up the connector and pull on the wire until the wire and pin come out. I know it isn't as fancy or technical/correct as your method, but it works for me

Re: (PhatAcuraIntegra)
It's not hard to do...in fact I used a small hex precision tool from a Radio Shack kit of small screwdrivers and hexdrivers. You can see what I did if you look at the "JDM folding mirror install" in the tech section of my homepage.
