MY JG Engine Dynamics Experience (long)
Well most JG stories start out like "those **** sucking mother f#@$ers blah blah blah. Mines a little different.Well it began when i bought one of there internet special blocks, it was a sleeved ZC block for only $350. I thought it was an excellent price so i e-mailed them to ask if it was available, it was, so i purchased it.
It was about a 2 weeks between sending my payment to receiving my block, so the timing was pretty good. So far i was pretty happy. Oh yeah, i forgot to mention that i had e-mailed them to MAKE SURE it was a DOHC block and not a SOHC block, they ARE different. Ok, so i then wait a few weeks to get some cash to take it to the machine shop. It cost me 400 to have it honed, rings put on the pistons, pistons installed and bottom end assembled. Takes a week for that.
So things are moving along pretty well, so i go to put my head on for the final assembly to be put in the car to find out.......ARGHHHH it's a SOHC block ARGHHHH. Talk about friggin pissed. Know there something you should know, i have a HORRIBLE temper, were talkin bad. I'm suprised i didn't pick up the block and fling it accross the basement.
This is were i try to be a little smart for one time in my life. I've read alot of JG stories (of course after i bought my block ) and they had alot of bitching and complaining and yelling and so on and so on. So i thought i'd take a different approach, i'd try the cool head approach..... whatever happened keep a cool head and don't lose my temper. Wow this friggin stroy is getting long. Alright shortin' this up a bit. Basically i tried for about a week to contact someone, was getting slightly purturbed(sp?). Javier, i believe he's the manager, contacted me about the block. He said if i purchased another block he'd sleeve it for free and just return the other. But that wasn't good enough for me, remember i just dropped 400 to get everything installed and i sure as hell wasn't doing it again. So i kindly asked him a FEW times to accomidate me and he finally gave in.
I sent both block sin and i was told it would take 2 weeks. 2 weeks go by a i email them to check on the status and they tell me they ran out of civic sleeves and it was gonna be 2 more weeks just to receive the new sleeves. So i'm thinking like another month before i'll even see my block, getting more perturbed , BUT still keeping my cool. This is absolutely amazing for me. 2 weeks go by and i check in again and they have good news, they said the sleeves came in early and they had my block 80% done. I'm thinkin WOOHOO. He emails me the next day tells me it's done and it's going out later that day, and he even gave me a REAL tracking #. And it only took 3 days from Cali to MI, which was pretty quick. So know i have my block, so i'm happy in the long run but this whole process took 10-11 weeks.
But the moral of the story is cool heads always prevail, i'm sure if i went of ranting and raving how they screwed me and this and that i wouldn't have gotten anything and i would be doing a SOHC engine in my car. I probably won't do business with tem just for the fact there across the country, i'll definately deal with local guys first. But in the end i got what i wanted and as a customer i'm satisfied. So all in all it was an OK experience. WAKE UP WAKE UP everyone, the story is over, damn this thing is long. Thanks to anyone who actually reads it all. Yawn, now i'm tired......zzzzzz.zzzzzzz.zzz.zz.z.zz.z.z.z.z

That's the way the world works, most people don't understand that though. If a customer comes in and has a problem or complaint and goes about it the right way then i'm more than happy to help them. When someone comes in yelling and demanding something i'm alot less likely to cooperate.

Re: MY JG Engine Dynamics Experience (turbo Si)
Well, it's really hard to tell just by looking at them. There is only ONE difference and it's very subtle, but it definately makes a difference
o x x x x
if the x's represent head bolt holes, the one with the "o" is the one that's off, and it's only off by about 3/16, but it's enough to screw everything up. I forgot to mentioni took it to 3 machine shop to see if they could move the hole or fill and retap the block, they all didn't recommend it
