Evans Tuning street tire car finished, 654whp/467tq, stock sleeves
After months of working on a K-Series car, we finally decided to go back to b-series. The plan was to stick to simple, off-the-shelf parts and retain 100% streetable trim with the car (full interior, big brakes, street tires, no sumped fuel tank or fuel cell, etc). The car was built from start to finish in less than two weeks, with a few minor hold ups. We finally finished the car on Friday (after getting off a 12 hour plane ride back from Hawaii) right before the NOPI event at Atco. Here is the result:
654whp/467tq at 28lbs on 110 octane
Here are our power levels on our quad stage boost controller.
Here is the setup:
Engine
b18c5 block
ls crank
manley rods
81.5mm 9:1 CP Pistons
STOCK SLEEVES
OEM headgasket, water pump, oil pump, timing belt
OEM bearings
AEBS headstuds
Headgames ported b16 head
Full Manley valvetrain
OEM CTR cams
Hondata Intake manifold gasket
AIR Intake manifold
OEM ITR throttle body
Full Race cam gears
Turbo System
Full Race Stage 3 GT kit (T3 GT35R .82a/r housing)
3" Thermal exhaust (no cat)
Fuel System
Precision 1000cc injectors
FJO injector driver box
Walboro 255lph HP fuel pump (wired to 14V alternator output with 10 guage wire)
-8an feed line
Aeromotive fpr
Stock return line
3bar map sensor
NepTune
Ignition
Bone Stock Ignition (OEM distributor, wires)
Heat range 9 NGK spark plugs
Drivetrain
Exedy twin disk
b16a tranny
Quaife LSD
DSS Stage 5 axles
The engine would have easily hit 700whp with another 3-4lbs of boost, but in the interest of keeping the engine together until the end of the season we decided not to push it too far. The stock sleeve with the proper engine clearances and assembly have no issues holding super high hp numbers. This is the result of simple, quality parts, proper engine assembly, and super conservative tuning.
I'd like to thank a few people/companies for their help in this project. First, Jeff Evans for all of the hours he's put in the car from tuning, engine assembly, and helping me build the whole car. I can't say thank you enough to Geoff from Full-Race Motorsports for everything he's done (advice, turbo parts, and helping with the installation of the Full-Race cage), as well as the rest of the guys at Full-Race. Thanks to Don from Straight Line Automotive and Performance for being the best mechanic ever!! Thanks to all the guys at Epic Tuning for helping us at the last minute to finish up those few minor details before NOPI. James (HRTuning) deserves huge thanks for developing such kick *** software. Lastly, thanks to The DriveShaft Shop for all of their help with axles, especially with our switch from K-series to B-series.
The only problem I have with the car is that I don't know how to drive it. My best pass was a 12.9 at 122mph on low boost...stalling the car off the line In my defense, it was only my 5th time ever taking this car (or any car for that matter) down the track.

Congrats, you drive like a girl!
If Jeff blows it up, you have a D-series ready, right?

I actually had plans to build a d-series back when I was in college. My setup is actually on one of the Epic Tuning cars.
