Default alternator troubles...

alright, a couple months ago, my alternator went out in my lude(92) and so I figured it was just old and needed replaced, well a couple days later, I was driving, and my speedo and the rpm gauge start to stop working, and the dash lights are flickering, I took it home and looked at it, took it to autozone and had them check it, and sure enough, it was fried (the alternator was from a junkyard) so I went back to autozone, and purchased a brand new alternator thinking that that would solve everything. I took the car out for about 2 hours, and sure enough, it happened again....what do you guys think the deal is...
thanks
Ryan

Disconnect the negative wire to your battery while the car is running. If the car sputters and shuts off, you have another bad alternator. If not, you got another problem.

Doesn't matter, it could be a defective one.

Are you sure they are diagnosing the alternator correctly??

The issue you have with the speedometer jumping around is an alternator issue. I had it happen to me when the plug of the alternator came undone. I thought it was in completely, but it wasn't.

Do this, make sure that the wire harness on the alternator is secure. In fact, put some tape on it to make sure it is secure, then test it again.

If you find it is the alternator again, I have an alternator that I NEVER had a problem with. I am selling it for $45 shipped.

Good luck!!

alright I took the alternator back there to get it tested and it was good!?!?!...I guess I should just check all the wires and make sure they're connected right, and check the battery to make sure it's holding charge??

Did you check your positive and negative terminals??

The electrical terminal on the alternator is plugged in securely??
