Thanks God for my 215 hp sohc non vtec allmotor dyno !!
It was my happy day , I’ve just dynoed my new motor.
The setup was
D16A6 motor 1737cc (before was D13B 1.4L and it was on my signature)
Block :
-Darton sleeves
-Machined 78,4 mm Mitsubishi Gallant V6 , 15.2:1 CR ( Damn this semi forged piston was very DAMN TOUGH !! )
-Crower Econo Rods
-Knife edge crank
-Weapon R al. flywheel
Head :
-PnP , Big Port (98cc inlet port)
-Stock valves with 3 angle job
-Isky Valve train
-RS Machine 338 camshaft ( proven power…. I think I gained 6-7 hp from my last cam –that was Bullfrog Gorilla “Gude” HCCS 10 , but this cam was very peaky , so we must rev above 9500 to use the optimum powerband )
Others :
- 4 barel Weber 50mm
- Custom self made stepped header 1-3/4 to 1-7/8
At first I don’t think that this motor will make power above 8500, because when I was running it before with Gude Gorrilla HCCS 10 camshat it only peaked at 7900…
Above 8500 the graphic was still climbing , but when we heard some strange sound from the motor , we lifted the pedal up…. And bellow 6000 the carbs was going very2 rich so theres a spot that goes down like valley.
Thumbs up for RS machine cam , even I still don’t belived that this was the same spec as Bisimoto’s D series camshaft…
HP Graph @8,5K it still climbing (very peaky characteristic camshaft),but we lifted up the pedal because some strange sound (it was a bit not clear because using digital camera , a few days i'll have it scaned)

TQ Graph ( this torque was also very peaky , it happened @ 8K )

You need to bring this discussion over to D-Series.org, many of us wouldbe interested in what you have going on there!

not bad at all. in fact probably the most impressive NA sohc dyno i have ever seen posted. what kind of dyno was it run on and what are other setups putting down on it (ex any NA dohc motors, etc) on the build for sure.

Re: (X2BOARD)
not to burst anyones bubble but on their site there is a car that went 15.5 on a stock internal D16a6 that dynoed 176. so if they are using the same dyno i get the vibe that it reads a little high. the dyno sheets seemed to be printed in the same manner that his 215 ones are too.......
http://jtsports.netfirms.com/r...0.htm
i dont know how their dyno is configured, and i dont know if they are claiming this as power at the flywheel or the wheels.
in his sig he had BHP, dont know if he is meaning belt HP or brake HP. different country, dont know how they are doin it. i also dont know the elevation either. guess we need timeslips to see what this motor has
i still give props to the sohc though.

Probably either a hypereutectic piston (which is cast) or a high silicon (street forged) piston.

If the dyno number here is true, then I have to admit that this is definitely great for SOHC. However, when you consider that this engine is probably completely unstreetable, will NEVER run on pump gas (15.2:1 compression!), and has crazy mods, you can see that it is no equal to any B-series motor that puts out this kind of power (which is actually not too difficult to do with a streetable B-series motor that can pass CA smog).

Re: (StorminMatt)
176 bhp on stock internals never goin to happen 145 is able gude had a buch of those dynos back in the days 15.50 in a hatch at sea level that waht 125 or so whp. so do the math that dyno is funky

and something about 270 lbs of torque is a bit fishy....
overall, nice results, but this power could have been made with much less money and more reliable and streetable, not to mention fuel injected.....

Re: (mgags7)
well lets not start the why he did. Tell bisi to switch to fi cant really say carbs dont make power it's all about the tuner. The dyno is fishy and all of his have been. I will say the motor proably is the 170-185 whp range w/ the parts but who knows with that dyno

Re: (BERT-O)
peak torque @ 8k with a 90mm stroke?
there are alot of discrepancies with those dyno graphs, past the numbers...the actual graphs look to be that of an untuned turbo setup with a WAAAAY too big turbo...a BIG non-vtec cam lacks low end, but that grade is incredibly steep.
i've never, EVER seen an NA d16 with a curve that even looks close to that-
i remember seeing this guy for some time, and his previous info seemed to be on point re: the small displacement setup, however...this one is out there man..

He's only up 10 whp from his old setup .. Why didnt everyone doubt him then.. I'll assume that those are supposed to be flywheel #'s by the bhp.. even if it is dlywheel its still impressive..

270 ftlbs....wtf is that all about. even if its newton meters...
EDIT: okokok, there is something wrong here- on the "teams" page with the race car gallery, there are several stock d16a6 with no internal changes, just blueprinting, "making" 174-176 bhp!!!!! so... they gained 70 some bhp from blueprinting. yeah.
i forgot; this is what i saw before when he came at us a few years back with the 205 bhp from the built little engine....i regarded it as being a hugely mis calibrated dyno.
