Default Is it recommended to change the Tranny Fluid of an Automatic?

2004 Civic LX coupe.

Seems like the tranny is having problems shifting at times. Ive never heard of anyone changing the tranny fluid on an automatic but would this help solve the problem?

Another question, my car shakes or stutters a little when i start to brake. I change out my brakes about a year a go at a jiffy lube. They resurfaced and changed the brake pads.
Anyone know why its doing this?

How many miles are on your car, and how many have you put on since you changed the pads/resurfaced the rotors?

About 68,000 miles. They were resurfaced and brake pads were changed around 57,000-60,000. I do not remember the exact number. It was about a year ago.

The steering wheel shakes also when the brakes are applied. Sort of feels like the wheels are about to fall off my car. It is pretty scary when your driving on the high way at 60+ mph and you apply the brakes to feel the steering wheel shake.

First, I would check the lug nuts to make sure that they're torqued on properly. If that doesn't change the vibration issues, then I'd replace your rotors and pads.

The transmission fluid could do with a change, if you've been driving the car under extreme conditions (maintenance schedules are listed in the FAQ's). It could be the cause of the hard gear changes, but I would say that either the torque converter or the transmission itself is the actual culprit. It's not uncommon to see the automatic transmissions fail on the d17's.
