  6th gen Ignition« » Reply  Edit

ok now i have an issue with my ignition it acts as if the immobilizer is on. I cant take key out (have to disconnect battery to take out). Parking sensor is fine. but i unplugged the bottom connector from ignition switch the one that feeds the i guess tumbler and it starts up and when i turn off it will give me my key. Ignition switch is about 2months old and wondering if by any chance anybody know where i can find the schematic on wires so i know what exactly feeds to that connector i disconnected. my year is 01 4cyl ex model. i dont wanna leave that connector unplugged i have no idea what it effected but i still have green key light that comes on and D4 lights up. I had a problem before with the D4 lighting up(blinking) before but it was for a transmission sensor. I have removed and reinstalled the ignition switch already still acting up if connector is plugged in. sorry i do write sloppy. thank you for your help in advance

You might want to remove and re-install the ignition switch.

Wait so when you drive somewhere you have to:

1. Put your car in park
2. Pop the hood
3. Unhook battery
4. Get back in car and turn car off take out key
5: Lock you doors, reconnect battery, close hood

That's embarassing. I hope you don't take girls out in your car.

my brothers old 91 civic use to do that ... but he never had to disconnect the battery eventually it would release the key ... i use to just turn the ignition off and take out the key as fast as possible ... it worked for me

welll now i have the bottom connector unhooked so the key comes out everything is fine with while disconnected. But my concern is whats that connectors purpose. I wouldnt drive car if i had to unhook battery every time thats just ghetto. But for now i have no issues while its disconnected exept green key comes on and off when start and when turned off but it gives me my key

its something that feeds the lock cylinder but i disconnected it and it works fine so for now i can drive vehicle and have no problems just worried about that the connector was placed there for a reason
