Default Racers, post your last ditch, extra HP secrets

In nascar, during qualifying they smear sterno-flame inside their intakes. the fumes form the paste is flamable and is good for a few hp.

the 5 liter mustang guys put those freezer cooler cubes, the blue ones, in the bottom of their intake boxes for a few hp.

i have frozen the intercooler on my brothers supra powered pickup truck jsut before a pass with a fire extinguisher. jsut spray it until icicles form during staging.

what do you do right before a pass?

Usually I double check my boost controller to make sure it's on low, look at my bottle pressure, and then try to forget there is a car next to me and just race myself. If I think about the other car, I will effin redlight every pass.

I rev the shit out of the car in the burnout box until my intake temps drop below 90 degrees F. If I can get my intake temps down to 75 degrees by the time I hit the traps I pick up a couple of MPH.

i look at a pic of my 4 year old son and tell myself that i am doing this to better myself for his bennifit (seriously) and then i bang the living shit out of the gears trying to break something and if i dont .. then i go fast !!!

as far as tricks to win a race MIND GAMES AT THE TREE work well on most

I always noticed in my GTI VR, I would run faster each time if I was doing consecutive runs. I would run the same time like 10 times in a row if I let the car sit between runs. Then, I did 3 consecutive runs and dropped 2 tenths each run. I made it all the way to the semi finals, and then broke out because of this.

Anthony Dowd (VW drag racer) took off all of his serpentine belts, removed his radiator and went from a 11.95 to a 11.72 in his all-motor GTI. Wasn't something he would have done all the time, so I don't think this counts

I've dynoed that very same cool can and didn't make shit , I'll try out that stuff that deftone posted tomorrow since I have 2 cars to tune (of course if my customers permit), also I've disconnected my alternator belt on my 95 stroke motor and made 6whp, it went from 272 to 278whp 6whp across the board

I figured. The fuel bowl in a carburetor does sit on top of the intake manifold.. so I can see how this would help in a carbureted application. We don't have that problem, but I was just curious if the colder fuel would provide any benefit.

I guess not.

That was tried out back in the late 90s by several people out here in SoCal from what I remember. I dont think it did much or else we'd be using them by now.

aye Chris, how about those cheesy pre-race things bunch of people used to do at the street races in like 93/94. Alternator plug thing, vacuum hose thing, and the stock fuel regulator screw adjsutments. haha.
Its funny how you'd see the dood pop his hood, turn off all his lights and run without the alternator right before a run..

You spark plug could be running too cool, and after you thrash the car it reaches the normal operating temp and therefore you car becomes more responsive.

I think that hot fuel was way more of a problem with the domestics, modern fuel injection probably has a lot to do with the reason you didn't gain any power.

Shit its not like we have to worry about vapor locking.....
