Default Mugen / Spoon / J's / Crux Suspension

This is an extension of our introduction post in the Performance area, which will focus on suspension goodies out of Japan.

If you have your eyes specifically on the following, then just ask for a price!

- Mugen
- J's Racing (Crux / Showa / Racing Gear)
- ASM
- Spoon
- Feels Honda
- M and M Honda
- Hyperco
- Swift

Hi Everyone. I'm Mike, Director of Fortyone Automotive - a company based in New Zealand and Japan who specialises in shipping out of Japan to anywhere in the world. If you have an new, old, rare, unavailable or hard to get item that you want, we get it for you! This also includes Yahoo auctions.

We have over 7 years experience working with and in Japan with a great rapport here already. We know the delays and caveats, and we call a spade a spade. If there's delays, we'll tell you!

We are authorised dealers for many brands in Japan. We work with current exchange rates, so if items are cheaper locally then no problem, but if we can get you a deal we will! Always keep checking, exchange rates change often, and sometimes this can mean items are much cheaper week to week!

Here's some brands you may like:
  • Mugen
  • Spoon
  • Sergeant
  • J's Racing
  • Feels
  • M and M Honda
  • Seeker
  • Toda
  • JUN Auto
  • ASM Autobacs
  • Cusco
  • Amuse
  • Swift
  • Backyard Special
  • C-West
  • Max Racing
  • Tracy Sports
  • Esprit
  • Taitec
And we do all the regular brands also - HKS, Trust, Blitz, Tomei, Kakimoto, Fujitsubo, Kaaz and so on, plus we're not limited to just Honda brands - we do 5Zigen, Nismo, Bee*R, Ralliart, Mazdaspees, Mines Wave, JIC Magic, Pivot, Defi, Voltex, Varis, Ings - anything!. Please note, in one or two instances, we won't sell certain brands to certain countries, to honor our distribution agreements! But, generally, anything goes!

Shipping

We, by default, use EMS, SAL and Japan post, depending on your requirements. For oversized items, we organise it for you and you pay for shipping when it arrives. We can use any carrier you want.

Delays / Lead Times / Timing

We organise everything for you, shipped from Japan. Where possible we always provide tracking.

If there's a lead time we'll let you know, if there's a delay we'll tell you. We always stress to not schedule any work until the goods are in your hands. Just be sensible! If an item cannot be sent on the service desired we simply refund you in full or arrange alternative transport + costs i.e. a part might be discovered to be too long for EMS. Generally, 2 weeks is considered good from Japan, often quicker, sometimes slower – depending on the brands and their stock / holidays.

Sometimes, Japanese brands are just plain slow or make to order once a month / every X months. We'll let you know in advance as best we can. But they are also human and make mistakes with their schedules and time frames.

Shipping quotes only cover the time taken, once the shipping company has your parcel, not the total order duration.

Payment Details

We accept bank to bank and Credit Card payments via Paypal (+3%). We are verified business members. Order under $500? Paypal. Over $500? Bank to bank. Verified users only! Our Paypal: sales @ fortyone.co.nz - That's it. We then take care of everything else.

Want an even better deal?

Order lots at once! This isn't a sales pitch, it's just how it works out. There's deeper discounts and cheaper shipping. Don't want lots? Ask your mates or get it shipped to a local shop you trust! You normally pay per full kg, so if you are only ordering 1 gear **** with US$15 shipping, it's the same price to ship 1 as it is to ship 5 of them (i.e. US$15 still)!

Dealer inquiries are welcome, in fact, we encourage it. You can save a heap on shipping by combining orders! Got customers in your area who might want a Feels **** or Spoon Plug covers? Stock up! We can't cover everybody, so ask for some stock prices!

The Sweet Spot!

The sweet spot exists with many small, light items, shipped at the same time, or one relatively heavy item plus lots of small items shipped together. Think of steering wheels, ECU's, cam gears / belts, valve springs / retainers, intakes, roll center adjusters, lug nuts, *****, carbon parts, torque dampers, stickers, clothing, catalogs, manifolds, cams, plugs, wires, titanium bits, strut bars, heat protectors and the likes. Of course, we'll ship anything!

Want a Quote / Order?

We work with email the best so email us for a quote! Or, PM or post here.

Our email is sales@fortyone.co.nz
Aim: FortyoneMac
MSN: fortyone_mac@hotmail.com

Remember, exchange rates go up and down - if it's no cheaper than local options it's fine, but do check back a week later as pices can go up and down weekly. Be specific. Don't ask if we can get some J's oil caps - instead, ask if we can get a 3 x J's Oil Cap, Red, for a 2001 Honda Integra DC5 JDM! It saves a lot of time.

We'll quote you a price, delivered, you either take it or leave it. Easy!

Email is always quickest!

Here's some teaser images of some of our visits to Japan. We're the real deal, we're not a business that simply has access to the brands, we've actually met and (gulp!) partied with them!

Sure thing, here's some Japanese options and recommendations

Mugen - Sports Suspension
Good slow rebound control, slightly stiffer than stock, -10mm, US$1425

Feels - Aragosuta SuspensionTrack based, not good for street, stiffer than stock, up to -25mm, US$4299, 13kgF, 12kgR

J's Racing Crux Version
Track orientated, with Swift springs (rated right up there with Hyperco), perhaps too solid for street unless you like that, US$4399, 14-24kgF, 14-24kgR

Spoon - Full Spec Coilover
Good for street, good for track, springs a little light for harsh track work, for balanced cars, US$2891, 9kgF, 7.2kgR

JIC FLT-RS
Same as what 5Zigen uses on their 58sec FD2 Time Attack car at Tsukuba (with Hyperco), good all round, better for track, US$2599, 11kgF, 7kgR

JIC FLT-TAR
Better for street, can handle track, US$1923, 7kgF, 4kgR

HKS Hypermax III, III Sport, III Supersport
Supersport = track, Sport = track / street as does III. Supersport 24kgF, 28kgR, III Sport 12kgF, 9kgR, III 6kgF, 4kgR. Supersport for track use only, for lightened cars, III Sport for club drivers. US$3535, US$2723, US$2434 respectively

Toda DA
For mostly track use, 10kg/10kg, up to 50mm drop, US$3260

Toda EX
For track set ups, remote reservoirs, better set up control, 10kg/10kg (up to 22kg - costs $$) US$4999

Shipping on any kit above - US$170 Japan Post, US$250 SAL Air, US$299 EMS Air freight!

Some little chassis ticklers here - bushes and mounts! Many of the brands in Japan make use of solid inserts or uprated bush kits in order to increase chassis feedback and reduce body roll - the small changes do add up at the end of the day!

If you go about adding coilovers and bars, you still have to contend with the next softest part of the suspension set up in order to really achieve that nice tight handling feeling. This is especially true when the chassis ages as natural degredation warrants replacing of such items regardless.

How about some new brake items? Spoon Monoblocks / Twin Blocks are super popular, they occupy the price range below the top Endless / Brembo options with great performance to match!

US$1499 / set (Monoblock or Twinblock)

Suits DC2, DB8, AP1, EP3, DC5, EK9, CL7
