195-50/15 is the standard/most popular tire. However there are 195-45/15s that a few companies make.

Post pics of the allegedly slammed car.

195/50-15 is too small for a DC2, even for a lowered car.

Get 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. Either size will work fine.

Most people that have "slammed cars" rub with 205s or 55 profile tires. Check the slammed thread. 195-50/15 is not the correct size for the car, and it will throw the speedometer off, but nothing too noticeable either.

I would give up speedometer accuracy by a couple miles for not rubbing at every turn

Are you talking about EG and older Civics, or Integras? Because Integras don't rub with 205/50-15 or 195/55-15. I know a lot of people with lowered Integras with 205/50-15 or 195/55-15 tires, including ITRs (which are already 15 mm lower than other Integras), some of them really slammed, and none of them have rubbing problems.

205/50-15 and 195/55-15 both work fine on Integras such as the DC2 of the original poster above. There's no need to get the undersized 195/50-15 for an Integra. However, 195/50-15 is the proper 15" size for all CRXs, del sols, and pre-'96 Civics like yours; maybe those are the "slammed cars" you're thinking of as rubbing with the larger sizes. Remember, Integras are designed to use larger tires than pre-'96 Civics and CRXs.

What's the proper size for 96-00 Civic's? Anything wrong with using 195/50/15 on those?

For '96 hatchback and DX models only: 195/50-15.

For all '97-00 Civics and all other '96 Civics: 195/55-15 or 205/50-15.

Your speedometer and odometer will be off by over 3 percent. Just stick with the proper size for your car.

Are you guys joking? I've accidentally ran a 195/50/15 on a DC2 and it was a big sacrifice of ride quality, made the car looks ridiculous as well.

OP: 205/50/15 is my personal recommendation, however 195/55/15 will work as well. Don't buy 195/50/15

Why is it only 96 dx hatchback different from 96-98 or even 96-00?

Because the stock tire size is different.

For 1996, the following Civic models came with tire size 175/70-13 (outer diameter 22.65 inches):

CX Hatchback
DX Coupe
DX Hatchback

For these models, the best tire size (closest match to the stock outer diameter) is:

14" wheels - 185/60-14
15" wheels - 195/50-15
16" wheels - 205/40-16

For 1996, the following Civic models came with tire size 185/65-14 (outer diameter 23.47 inches):

EX Coupe
EX Sedan
HX Coupe
LX Sedan

For these models, the best tire size (closest match to the stock outer diameter) is:

14" wheels - 185/65-14 (can also use 195/60-14)
15" wheels - 195/55-15 (can also use 205/50-15)
16" wheels - 205/45-16 (can also use 215/45-16)

Beginning in 1997, no Civics came with 175/70-13 tires; all Civics came with 185/65-14 or larger.

So 195/50/15 goes for only in 96 in those models above or those models for 96-00?
