Default 195/50/R15 vs 195/55/R15

i know 50 series will give my car a lower stance compared to the 55 series. i also know that si's came standard with 195/55. i have a set of si's that i've been running on my civic for a little over a year and a half and i got a set of new polished si's with no tires. my friend has an si with his si rims and he thinks his wheels look a bit beefy. now...i went tire shopping and one of the sales people told me that 55's will give me a better ride than 50s. he said if i run 50's i'll have more bounce. is this true? and what series do you think would be better 50 or 55?

It's irrelevant. You don't buy one tire size over another because it has more "bounce". And what is "bounce", anyway? That sales person is an idiot.

Use the best tire size for your car. If you have a '95 or older Civic/CRX/del sol that came from the factory with 165/70-13, 175/70-13, or 185/60-14, then get 195/50-15. If you have an Integra or '97-00 Civic that came from the factory with 185/65-14, 195/60-14, or 195/55-15, then get 195/55-15.

I have 195-45-15s on my CRX and they look good. Ride is a bit choppy but I think the tire plays a minmal role compared to the other issues going on. The speedo is off a bit, as it was before the tires went on but, I have a written scale to compare with the actual speed. The 195-45-15s look pretty cool, although it is NOT a daily driver. Mainly just for summer weekends and shows.
