Default some 1.8t work ive been finalizing

I do mostly 1.8t vw turbo setups, motors, trannys, drag cars. Figured id throw this up here see what you guys thought about it.

Its a zipped up picture album i will post some individual pics here later once i have them (they are on the camera which is dead)

This setup was very close to the one on my car that we made 676whp and 465wtq and went 10.65@137mph in a 2800+lb street car 3rd pass out with the boost staged and the highest boost setting in 3rd and 4th gear was 10 psi lower than the dyno

click the link, check them out and tell me what you think. The turbo pictured is a T3/T67h.o.

yes that was a mkIV

we are setting the car u for sfwd or whatever the class will be called for the spring and try to butt some heads (obviosly with a much larger turbo setup and revving to ~9-10k, 2450lbs)

Some of the vids from the event.

15" wheels 24.5X8.5X15 M&H i think the car was 2880lbs

Was kicking somethings around today. How much does one of those engines weigh? What are the short comings? Being a cast iron block I figure they could hold some serious power, but are the heads as good as Honda heads?

I am building a Tube chassis race car and like the idea of a force fed four cylinder. I already have a 4.0 lexus engine to play with, it it is pretty heavy.

of course, but at 8750 (what we were bashing it to for about a week solid) there were no signs of any issue in relation to valve train movement or float.

The springs could also be shimmed .03" more before getting close to coil bind.

The shor comings of the vw's are the stock small port cylinder heads, they flow worse then a d series honda head.... The major issue is the lift limit on the intake side because of the angle of the valves. They will touch each other when the lift gets to any substantial amount.

The blocks are good. The key way on the crank pulley is gay and sheers, the flywheel only has 6 bolts to the crank and they are 10X1.0mm AND they are an irregular pattern so you can squeeze in 3 more bolts if you wanted to.

The major issue with vw's are the 5 speed transmission not shifting above 7000rpm at any substancial power level, but the 6 speed has held up to my car bone stock with just an LSD, stock axles as well. We are heat treating another box now and working on it.

well then your the lucky one. because everyone that was making alot of power was having alot of trouble when drag racing with slicks and bashing gears.

I have 3-5 cars that will be running this year, smallest is a 35r (2 of them) and the other 2 are T67's, one is the setup off my car. But i dont think anyone other than myself is planning to compete.
