Default Northern Virginia Welding classes? Where to go for hobbyist?

Northern Virginia Welding classes, Fairfax County VA to be specific? Where to go for hobbyist?

Like I said..Not wanting to get a welding degree...want a sort of adult education type class for Mig and Tig welding...anyplace offer these? I know how to Gas weld and stick weld. Sorry if this is out there...Google wasn't helping me at all. As a hobby I want to learn these better, I have no need of a welding degree not the time for one as I have a full time job in Telecom adn a house to keep up.

Nova/NVCC offers classes. You will have to drive to Manassas to attend the classes though. I haven't taken any of the classes so I don't know how they are. Isaw that they offered it in their Fall catalogs.

OT: What do you call someone who lives between Dumfries and Manassas?

Not sure what do you call them? Besides very unlucky if they drive into DC for work....

Damn....Manassas would be a near impossible drive evenings becasue of the Rt66 traffic jam every single day at evening rush hour..but I will look up their catalog closer, I missed seeing it in there. Bet it would start before the end of evening rush however.

i believe the classes at the manassas location are more for Pipe welding and certification. welding thick metals, etc. not sure if they teach any tig there.

the alexandria campus has an autobody welding class. i've taken all the body classes there. the teacher Barbee is really cool and knows alot. you work with thin stuff and can always bring in stuff to work on. headers, etc.
but you mostly do mig . if you are good at Oxy when you go there he might let you work with the TIG after you show him you have mastered the MIG and Oxy/acetylene

I'm going to look closer at those options soon....no pipe welding and certification is not what I want....I want to buy a Tig by summer and want to learn to use it right first. But this is as a hobby not a job.

No I never mastered MIG even though I have used one...I've not done gas in a long time...I if going to pick up a set of tanks soon, just trying to decide how big I really need first....already have a victor setup. Again for hobby use.
