Default How do I baffle my catch can?

Hi guys,

I'm a bit unsure of how to baffle my catch can. I don't want to use steel wool. Would I be able to use a perforated bit of steel inside the catch can just to break up the air flow?

Thanks

You want to be careful with steel wool. It can break down and break off. This is a problem for people who set their can up to recirculate to the oil pan. Another option is to buy a few feet of chain from the local hardware store and put it in the can.

If you do end up using steel wool, it should be stainless.

Just use metal, you don't need steel wool

that looks tobe a breather filter with a shield on it.

If you look inside the tube of that part then you will see that it is not just a straight through piece of tubing. It has a metal baffle in the middle. It is not the best but it does work.

I've read that ball chain works well for a baffle

These look like a pretty good deal, I might even buy a case to repack dead resonators.

The moroso breather setup above is what I make our catch cans with. There is actually 2 baffles in each one of the weld in tubes. If you have a return style catch can I wouldn't ever consider putting anything in the box....doesn't take much for the oil pickup screen to get clogged and cause an engine failure if the "baffle" comes apart.

cut it down to about a foot. roll it up and drop it in. its same thing as metal grating (perf), just cheaper.
