Fabbing my own muffler. People who have fabbed some look in
Well guys i wanna make my own 3" muffler thats not a straight threw and looks like a stock bodied muffler.
What im looking at doing is first all a stock sized honda body. Now i was going to do 3 sets od 12" long perferated tubbing and at each end 2 90deg 3" bends welded to it to change the direction of exhaust flow in to the next perferated tube then 2 90deg bends to the next perferated tube then from there it will exit the muffle to the back of the car. I was going to wrap the tubes and the inside of the case with exahust matting .
Im wondering if this will work well and bring the levels of noise down.
I will do a sketch later and post it up.

It will be a lot more work than it is worth. It should be very quiet, but all those bends will be tough to weld to good perf tube inside. 3" will be huge with 3 turns. Have you done any homework to figure out the radius of the bends? 4.5" will be the tightest you can likely get, so even 2 side by side will be a very wide muffler indeed.

i bet you they are really really quiet, if you want i can take a picture of my stock muffler on the s14 and its a straight trough design and its super tiny and my car is super quiet so a bigger muffler will do quite a great job, since the oem one is so small.
and according to their website, this mufflers design is very similar to what you have planned.
lets say if you use two of those on your car, i will bet it will be super silent.
but i have no experience its just some of my logics ( or not lol ).
a turbo car is not as loud as a naturally aspirated.
i still think it sucks that magnaflow doenst have pictures of their inner design like dynomax mufflers do, check out this one:

if you want a quiet chambered muffler then go for the dynomax super turbo or thrush "hush" turbo muffler (same thing but cheaper in price)
the magnaflow xl turbo is not quiet at all. still loud i removed it for a thrush hush turbo.
you can try to build/make your own muffler but in the end i think you will find it wont look that great and you will put alot of time,effort,money into something that probablly wont sound that great..

why do you need 3" for a JRSC'd motor? smaller piping may help with selection of mufflers available.

ive been looking at the dynomax super turbo also. I think ill be going with this.
Reason for 3" is LHT and other shops have picked up good power on 3" and now being here in canada we are getting busted hard on cats. Im doing a 3" cat and resonator and 3" muffler with no shinny tip so the cops will not harase me.
